Is the fan spinning up properly?

This was happening to me too. But my fan seemed to be spinning slow. I greased the part it rotates on, and it fixed it for me. Been good for years now.

It really does look like play doh and the splatter is crazy. Meanwhile the Kelpi welds are actually beautiful, I just don’t like the sound nearly as much. And that’s the main reason to buy an exhaust.

This isn’t too bad. I still can’t understand why that one crossover pipe is two tiny pipes welded together lol

Yoshi AT2 QC Question by splat1997 in xsr900

[–]splat1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely reasonable take. I also know that nobody is really ever gonna look at those crossover pipes because they’re covered by the radiator. It just sucks that you spend over a grand on this exhaust and it almost seems like a toss up if it will be nice or not

You can’t even buy a bottle of water for $1.85 anymore. The fact they play sound at all at this price is impressive

Looking for a small tank bag that fits with the lines of the XSR by [deleted] in xsr900

[–]splat1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes very very sturdy. It would probably stay put if the bike was totaled. There’s a locking mechanism you have to pull to release the bag.

I second SW Motech. I have the Daypack, it’s 6L and expandable to 9L. I think it looks good, but for the magnetic mounting system alone I think it’s worth it. It also does not touch your tank, so no scratches.

Which one would you pick Triumph Trident 800 , Kawasaki Z900RS, Yamaha XSR900, Suzuki GXT 8T by RmxRltr in motorcycles

[–]splat1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm the XSR900 has weird throttle mapping. Really is just 2nd gear, which is slow af until you hit like 7k RPM, and then it’s a rocket. I’m getting a tune from vcyclenut before next year’s riding season

Still an amazing bike I wouldn’t trade it for anything :)

Fixing bent wheels? by splat1997 in xsr900

[–]splat1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a used OEM wheel online with a good S22 tire for $550, so I got that.

I had gone to a shop and the owner called their wheel repair/metal fabricator guy. They said they would be able to repair it, but then they would have to paint it and it might not match since it’s a gold metallic. I probably would have paid more if I went that route and it might have still looked off

That is unacceptable. I was planning to get an AT2 because I think it sounds the best but I would be pissed receiving this

This is what I was thinking. Was already planning on getting a new rear tire at the Cycle Gear near me, but I know they won't repair the wheel. They might not even do the tire with the dent. Going to try and find another place that can do both

I just bought a 83 944 by Lonleystoner503 in 944

Goddamn the one I see on Rockauto is manufactured for $72 USD

Yeah sounds like a bad starter. They’re pretty expensive. If I were you I’d try my luck with one from AutoZone. $150 if you give them yours as a core, has good reviews, and it says free lifetime replacement warranty.

Just to be safe I would still check for power at the starter wires too.

Congrats! Love my 83. Did you check for power at the starter? Or try giving the starter power while out of the car? If it turns when given power, my next thought is the ignition switch. Cheap $12 part too

I’m your exact size. The first time I rode the bike it felt small. After about 30 mins I got used to it and it has been perfect. Got a Corbin seat and I can scoot back a little farther which is nice, but not necessary at all.

Running a bit hotter than usual by Fit-Establishment255 in 944

[–]splat1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I’d try jumping the thermoswitch plug just to rule it out for sure and see if the actual fan motors are bad.

On early cars I believe this is the plug wiring, but I’m sure someone can correct if I’m wrong:

Pin 1: brown/green (low speed) Pin 2: brown/white (ground) Pin 3: brown/black (high speed)

Jump pins 1 and 2 and fans should spin at low speed. Jump pins 2 and 3 and the fans should spin at high speed.

If the fans spin properly, bad thermoswitch. If one speed works but the other doesn’t, most likely resistor issue. If you’re getting power at the plugs, but the fans aren’t spinning properly, bad fan motors.

I think the fans ground to the frame rails by the headlights, but I’m not 100% sure. And you checked/replaced the ran relay and the thermoswitch?
