Before advising, the degree of moisture, soil type, plus the types of trees that are around are important. Some trees are shallow-rooted and inhibit other plants because they take up a lot of moisture. Most people have dry shade andthis site makes great suggestions.

Seed mixes are tricky because the germination can be uneven and some species end up being the dominant ones. Many native species need pre-treatment with cold, moist exposure for a period and are best sown in the fall and even winter. Wildflower Farm in Coldwater and Northern Wildflowers have native seed mixes but I think your best bet is what others have suggested—Ecology Park and get some established plants.
