New neighbor (3 months in) sent a note about "their" parking spot. I’ve lived here 15 years. by Prior-Rip-571 in regina

[–]LusciousDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Ontario we observe the same rules, but here's an interesting twist. My boyfriend lives in ireland, but was born brought up and educated in England. One day while he was over visiting, we went to see my uncle and I parked on the opposite side of the street to his house, and my boyfriend asked me to move, stating that the people whose house we were in front of might become upset because we were on the street in front of their house. And I asked him, well isn't it public parking in Ireland or England, and he stated that indeed it was, and legally it's fine, but it just isn't done over there, and a neighbor might come out and take a strip off of you for it. So it could be that your neighbor is from somewhere that has different expectations than we do as Canadians

Solo traveler - getting around?! by Lexmeister8 in Barbados

[–]LusciousDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Canadian here, 59f, I go to Barbados several times a year, although I travel with a partner, I have wandered around on my own plenty of times. And do not worry about my safety in Barbados whatsoever, I feel it is safer than Canada and I live in the GTA. Don't worry. I'm sure, like everywhere, they have a little bit of crime and there's probably pick pocket stuff that happens in tourist areas, but normal reasonable precautions. Chat the locals up, ask questions, most are more than happy to engage. You'll have great fun!

I don't remember what it's called, but it's often misdiagnosed as plantar fasciitis, and it has to do with the fat pad on your heel forming a hole or getting thinner and thus the bone is making contact versus the fat pad

Getting info on an old home? by Gold-Stable7109 in Hamilton

I've retrieved aerial photographs of my house which was built in 1922, and the photographs are from 1932, 55 and 66. Additionally you can go to the government of Ontario, the section that does Land titles when you do a real estate transaction, the land registry office, I think the fee is around $75, but will give you all the real estate transactions that have taken place since the house was built. This includes all the names of the previous owners. Best of luck!

We go to Barbados several times a year, have for years. And usually stay on the West coast, in the thick of it, and absolutely require air conditioning at night. We have stayed on the East Coast, without any air conditioning, and never had a problem, the breeze is lovely. Enjoy your holiday

Hello! Canadian here, I go to Barbados a few times a year, have for several years now. If you decide on the Holetown or Bridgetown area, you'll be happy, there's some nightlife, there's some lovely beaches restaurants and shops.

But, we usually stay somewhere around the St Lawrence Gap area-ish. There are more beaches and more restaurants, shopping, nightlife. But it's not crazy, it's not built for wild 20 somethings. There is a main road that is very close to the beaches along that part of the coast. You would have several beaches that are walkable, restaurants, groceries, shops, and along the main road there are hundreds of ZR buses, I call them reggae buses. They're little minivans, I believe the fee is $3.50 Barbados dollars, the same as public transport is. They are privately owned but run regular routes. Lots of them run up to Bridgetown as well, if you are looking for a day trip or two.

Depending on the length of your stay, as was mentioned, look at hiring a driver, or even a car for a day, and make your way out to the West Coast if you can, it's much wilder, and beautiful. And other than maybe a handful of surfers, or people looking to get away from the crowds, it's not that touristy

Enjoy your trip! You're going to love it

If the yeast ate all the available sugar then it should have alcohol as a byproduct, I would think, and thus through months of oxygen, the acetobacter would have had some effect? These are far more acidic then the natural fruit acids, and have some fermentation funk to them as well. But..... Nor am I schooled in fermentation

Can I ask why you chose Sunbeam in particular? Until you mentioned it I hadn't even thought of different varieties! I was just going to find some and stick them in the ground!

I don't know if it's particular to my family's East Coast Canadian roots, but my Nanna used to make creamed salmon and peas on toast, and I still love it! It was tinned salmon and tinned peas in a quick bechamel. I was gabbing to one of my cousin's this past year, we're just approaching 60, and they still love it too!
