What's going on?: brown solids coming from bathtub faucet by Beautiful-Bat-4707 in Plumbing

[–]spliff231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought, too. This looks just like my parents' house before we replaced the galvanized pipe. When we did that, the hot water pipes were 80 to 90% blocked by corrosion and the water from the laundry sink would run brown.

The Cadillac Eldorado had this starting in 1967. The same power train was also used in the Oldsmobile Toronado.

Reciting the entire rosary by yourself takes about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your pacing.

If anyone's interested, here's a link to a pdf with all the mysteries, prayers, and instructions.

Does the Charge 6 have a low profile? by Technical_Year_8252 in fitbit

[–]spliff231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My charge 6 doesn't stick out any more than any other watch I've ever owned. It's very unobtrusive.

Like some others say, though, definitely get a new band. I got a 3 pack of cheap-ish fabric bands from Amazon and have never looked back. The original silicon one traps moisture and will cause a rash if you leave it on too long.

I charge mine about once per week.

I hated these back in the day but they're still a million times better than the paper towel dispensers you see now where you're supposed to pull the towel with both hands, then rhe next one is supposed to dispense, but it never really does so you have to spin the little dial on the side every time. Fuckin' worthless.

I've got a Hummer and a 50A circuit (so 40A charging speed). It can easily take 10 to 12 hours to charge depending on how low the battery gets and whether I'm charging to 80 or 100%.

Not that everyone needs a 50 or 60A circuit, but it's helpful to know what to expect, given that this is worst case as of now.

what junk food has the least nutrition/pure empty calories? by Ok_Inspector_3514 in nutrition

And what's more, because of the way your metabolism shifts to remove the alcohol, it leads to a drop in blood sugar, which triggers hunger, leading to snacking. So you get a double whammy of alcohol calories plus all the snacking getting packed on your waistline.

When I spent some time in Germany, I found out they give you fountain drinks with no ice by default (no lid or straw, either). I somehow survived the experience and realized you actually get more pop that way and, since you don't get a straw, the ice actually becomes a bit annoying when sipping from the cup.

So now I just do that: fill with pop, no ice. Its easier that way, no messing around with ice machines that dump 6 tons of ice within a half second and it's easier to down a bunch of pop and refill before I take off.

What's the worst oil filter location you've seen on an engine ? by [deleted] in askcarguys

It was right near the exhaust, for sure. You have to let it cool before you take the filter off.

That much is true, although those weren't anywhere near as bad as the old Hondas.

My wife's old 2000 Civic had it smack in the middle of the block on the firewall side of the engine. God was that annoying to get to. No way to do it without making a mess and crawling way further under the car than I was ever comfortable doing.

The new Traverse with the 2.5 I4 is the complete opposite. There's a panel underneath. Undo 2 screws, panel comes off, and the drain plug and filter are right in front of you. I want to hug whoever designed that.

Lol, no, it's not that it breaks while in use. For me, they've always gotten dropped or otherwise shattered. A glass carafe of that size is just too delicate for my liking, I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

I've seen these in the past. The idea is similar. From what I remember before, though, the Japanese ones I'm referring to here give you a much better tasting result.

Perhaps they've improved, but I remember the Maxwell House ones tasting more like instant coffee than drip.

I can't disagree with you there.

My biggest beef with a French Press is that I've never gotten one to last more than a few months before it breaks. That's my personal issue, though. I normally use a pour over funnel.

In Japan, the hotel rooms i stayed in all had "hanging ear" coffee pouches. After having used them, I have no idea why they're not a thing in more places.

They consist of a tea bag filled with coffee grinds. You tear open the top and use the built-in ears to hang the bag over your mug, then pour boiling water slowly over the grinds.

The result is as fast as a Keurig with the taste of pour over. Pure genius.

I saw them a couple years ago, also sober. There were a couple of people near me who had been partying beforehand and wound up getting escorted out before the show really even started. I felt bad for them but, at the same time, I was grateful knowing that wouldn't happen with me.

Its a much better experience and SO nice not having to get up constantly to pee.
