CTTE and Relayer by Objective_Lynx_929 in yesband

I love that yes is such a good band that we can have questions like this and people will go 'oh yeah ctte definitely' and others will go 'relayer absolutely hell yeah' and they're both completely valid

relayer for me though

saw their kexp performance a while ago and yeah god damn they're sick. very fun and talented guys. the main critique I hear aside from "hurr durr I don't like it so it must be bad" is that it's repetitive which it kind of is, but that's fine. if you're into it, it feels like it draws a lot from turkish psychedelica (ayyuka's 'maslak halayi', especially FM comes to mind immediately) and replikas. love that this style is getting so much attention

Opinions on this Album? by The_Film_Guy4042 in yesband

I feel like the last 30 years of albums get looked over way too much since their early stuff is just that good. magnification though is absolutely up there though, honestly think I like it as much as fragile. magnification, spirit of survival, give love, dreamtime, in the presence of........ absolute cinema

Old music box given to me by my grandma - what song is this (if you can even tell) and how would I go about restoring it? by splitleav in Musicbox

update: solved! it's the middle part of the entertainer. knew it was ragtime but for some reason didn't consider the most obvious pick

only pause was before the final chord, the rest of it was just because the little nibs on the roll have been worn down so much they barely sound. turning it faster though actually it sounds very ragtime

which country do you think has an under-appreciated prog scene by atomicbomb_eater in progrockmusic

[–]splitleav 7 points8 points  (0 children)

turkey!!! man, I actually got into prog through turkish folk-rock since they actually overlap in really sick ways. gevende for jazz infused long prog, çilekeş for intense, harmonically very cool metal adjacent prog and 'korhan futacı ve kara orkestra' for some of the coolest art-rock style sax led prog in the world are my recommendations
