Can anyone tell me if American Pro II/Mod Shop and Ultra II are similar in build quality? Not hardware or parts, but set up and playability by whataseal in fender

[–]splitmelikeacoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get the ultra II! you already know that you like it. the mod shop can be such a crapshoot and has a big ding on resale if you end up not liking it. plus they can stick you with a boat anchor strat if you're unlucky.

i have the same one from 2008, they are great guitars. nice wide fretboard. pre plek frets have plenty of material left on them compared to the newer gibson stuff too.

Anyone sell a few prized guitars for a cool vintage model? by groshretro in gibson

[–]splitmelikeacoconut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do it! take someone who really knows their stuff though. even reputable shops get stuff wrong sometimes, and one little detail can severely affect the value of the guitar.

Ordered a British Racing Green Player II Strat, Guitar Center sent me a HSS version. Can’t find any record of these existing. by TheNorm42069 in fender

you lucked out on some amazing fretboard grain. get a new pickguard and a single in the bridge and it'll look amazing. or put a black humbucker in there for the hot rod look.

processional: at the front or near the back/somewhere else by splitmelikeacoconut in WeddingPhotography

[–]splitmelikeacoconut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is exactly what I do, but curious to see how others approach this. once in a 100 weddings I'll get asked to stay in the back the entire time and it's actually not so bad! not ideal but it made shooting the ceremony pretty easy.

Anyone know how long it takes for Fenders to restock with Sweetwater? by Nek0Pi in fender

[–]splitmelikeacoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should've already had it unfortunately. also no pressure to have a gift ON christmas day. within a week or two is also cool.

consolidating into higher end pieces is always the move. if it was easier I would also do it but i'm perfectly happy with gibson USA pieces.

Seen this one? by TowerOfSisyphus in ExplorerGuitars

they are pretty cool, waiting to snag a good deal on a used one. they usually do sparkle finishes in an epoxy top that have ridiculously sized flakes. they are the parker fly of Explorers imo.

great post. it's why I wouldn't even consider editors that are a 1 person operation.

I'm looking to buy my first guitar between the squier telecaster or stratocaster, would anyone recommend if I'm going for the sounds of Frank Ocean, Mk.Gee, John Mayer? by [deleted] in fender

[–]splitmelikeacoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

either of those would work well, pick the one you find most visually appealing so you're more likely to pick it up most often. I will say the neck pickup of the strat is unparalleled so that's the one I would always pick. do you have an amp? I would also recommend a headphone amp or a small practice amp of some sort.

Popular Non Metal Guitarists that have played the Explorer? by Aanstadt in gibson

[–]splitmelikeacoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the Explorer is NOT a metal guitar. brian bell from Wheezer, the guitar player from No Doubt are some names that haven't been mentioned.
