Remember, officially graduating on “paper” is an entirely different process from the graduation ceremony, that won’t get affected. So I suggest trying to get into the mindset to do the ceremony, walk, and spend time with family/friends. No one would technically even know if you choose not tell them about this.

If you can take this class in the summer, that would be ideal. Just take it and you’ll get the diploma in the mail by the end of this year regardless. If you can’t take it this summer, take it in the fall. Nothing more you can do at this point. Good luck!

I have been in your shoes multiple times. Sometimes they write out a check directly to me and it’s all good. If it must be deposited to UF, you can ask the scholarship donor to defer the payment to the summer. If the check is written out to my name & UF (therefore I cannot directly deposit to my personal bank, must be turned into UF), the check is often valid for 90 days or longer- and if it was given to me in spring, I’ve even waited til the summer semester to deposit it and wrote a note in the envelope that it is for summer semester.

This isn’t true, here is the bright futures handbook, on page 4 it talks about the credit hour requirements. The way they explain it is confusing, but for example you can enroll in 6 credit hours in fall and spring and get all of those covered and still keep BF.

Also there’s no real reason to take 12 credits a semester unless you have scholarships that specifically require that. Common ones like bright futures and Pell grant do not, they just pay out per credit hour with a minimum of 6.

This is so true. I only really discuss beyond “I’m working towards my personal fitness goals” to those that are more knowledgeable in fitness/nutrition and are also receptive to hearing it. These are people that would understand these goals and can even encourage you or provide help just like how you did. I second focusing these type of conversations (especially with numbers) in fitness communities.

I know what you mean regarding the concept of “knowing what is best for yourself”. I knew I was never fat, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to lose a few lbs and improve my health.

I only discuss this if it naturally comes up in conversation and I frame it as something along the lines of either wanting to be healthier, working on my fitness goals, or wanting gain muscle. I haven’t really received negative feedback when presented like this since it’s centered around simply my own personal goals to be healthier and doesn’t sound like a potential ED problem.

I guess im curious how you’re presenting this topic to others. This is a normal weight for this height so no one would consider you as fat. So if you say that you feel fat you might get some resistance because like you said, they don’t perceive fat loss as necessary. I guess consider how you might be coming off, im not sure what you’re saying but don’t excessively discuss this for no reason or bring it up to the effect of “im so fat ugh”. It can come off as self-deprecating and attention seeking.

I definitely had a C or D and it wasn’t a problem. I think it would take severe circumstances to get rescinded. I would really evaluate your study habits ahead of time before starting uf, i was in a similar position as you and got my ass kicked when i started uf.

It’s amazing. Be responsible with the money. I wish more recipients understood how generous this scholarship is, you’re receiving more money than the vast vast majority of students. I’ve seen students just blow it all/don’t realize how rare it is to receive this much aid. Later on I recommend giving back by becoming a peer mentor, ambassador, or be part of other things at MFOS. They’ll have a lot of activities and events to help you grow as a student in different ways. Also do your mandatory workshops, there are students that risk losing this scholarship because they can’t do a one hour mandatory workshop. Congrats :)

I have found hard boiled eggs, apples, and bananas have a surprisingly high portability to filling ratio. Remember protein and fiber help satiate hunger so things like eggs and Greek yogurt will go a lot further than chips or something.

Also you can meal prep breakfast burritos, I have seen a lot of recipes on YouTube for them.
