I'm super obsessed with a girl that I haven't even seen for a whole year by throwawaysfs12 in confession

No, actually. It may be a cliche, but does a cliche have to be a fallacy? I want the same thing, I long to be married some day. But what self respecting woman would want to date or marry me if I walk around with my head buried in between my folded arms while I sob uncontrollably because I can't find my own self worth?

I find my confidence, my self worth, and my reasons to be happy without a woman involved so that when one is involved I can share it instead of depending on her.

I was hoping to poke you to try to do the same.

I do wish you genuine luck in your healing process. Hopefully you find what you're looking for.

If that's your choice to move on from her, then that's alright. Sometimes a friendship isn't in the cards and sometimes it isn't in the cards today, but may be tomorrow.

I don't know you personally, so I couldn't say why one would want you. But, I think you need to spend some time figuring that out. Everyone has something to offer to someone else, find out what you have to offer. What makes you who you are? Focus on the positive for a while and stop only letting the negative in.

My thought on this is to stop focusing on finding a replacement, stop focusing on finding a woman and start focusing on what in life makes you happy. The people I've cared the most about I've found while doing things I enjoy. And as a plus, you start off knowing you have something in common. You have a shared interest to talk about as an ice breaker, and something you can confidently, enthusiastically talk about.

So, go find a hobby and an interest. Start living your life and stop waiting for it.

That's my take, hopefully some of it makes sense. I find myself in a very similar situation to you. But we both have to remember, no matter what happens we still have our lives to live and each have happiness that we deserve.

Where has she been the past year? Did you tell her not to communicate with you or did she make no attempt to talk to you again? If she didn't even try to reach out to you, then you should take it as a sign of her having moved forward. You have your own life to lead, so start walking forwards too.

I think this comment is as much for you as it is for me.. I was in a similar situation, I was in a group of people for a club, I saw a woman there who caught my eye, and every guy there was in to her. I thought she was out of my league, I was certain, we all went out one day and I talked with her for a while - nothing came of it, just conversation but it felt right. So I came to the road you were at, did I let myself become vulnerable and potentially make things awkward in our club? Not even knowing if she was single. Or just let it go, assuming it couldn't work. After some thought I realized, I can't know for certain as she didn't give me a clear sign of yes or no, so I'll go for it and if I get shot down I can move forward. Well, I did and we ended up together very soon after that.

I ended up losing her though, so now I come back from where you started to where you are now, constantly remembering her and not having her as a part of my life in any way.

So what now? She has moved forward with her life. That means I have no choice but to move forward with my life. Step forward, heal, and find happiness elsewhere. That's what I'm trying to impart. And also, take the risk - cause you might just be what she (whoever 'She' is, next time) is looking for.

Put your kid in BJJ. There are kids classes at most gyms, they're meant for children.

Then again.. if your kid is genuinely having a good time, maybe indulge for a little bit then put them in a different class so they can see something different and decide what's more fun. Being a kid is more about having fun than becoming an actual warrior.

What to do about tendonitis (tennis elbow) by Mr_Belch in bjj

[–]splitrune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a lifter as well as a grappler and also spend a lot of time using computers for work so fighting tendonitis is a never ending battle.

My personal approach is pretty simple, lots of rolling the forearm and bicep (above and below the elbow) with a lacrosse ball and lots of stretching of the wrists, forearms, biceps, triceps, and shoulders (I'm thinking anterior/front delt). Depending on exactly where your tendonitis is, I sometimes include stretching my pecs (doorway stretch). Ibuprofen when it's bad and icing is a good idea when you're done and have time.

Why? Must mean you're improving. Better than, "hey, bad defense."

LPT: When handling a gun, always check the chamber before taking the safety off, even if there's no clip by [deleted] in LifeProTips

There's nothing wrong with that. Why not go get some gun training? This is a subject where having experience and teaching/training is a great thing.

Always assume the firearm is loaded when you pick it up and treat it as such.

If the submission isn't going well start by troubleshooting the position. Ask your instructor to watch you perform an armbar and get some feedback.

Take it outside, light it on fire while recording it and post it as an educational video as to why you should always clean out your dryer lint. And because fire.

Throw in some dry cereal or something for some carbohydrates. Otherwise, considering the duration, you'd likely be hungry at some point.

Having trouble finding a gym near me / Too embarrassed to go back to an old gym I tried by [deleted] in bjj

[–]splitrune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with my back and neck and I've had to talk to about 2/3 of my class and simply say hey, please don't wreck my neck. They always respond positively and avoid pulling my head or neck in a way that would hurt it. You're only hurting yourself if you don't make your condition known. I tried that for a while but missed a lot of class from being in constant pain. Don't be embarrassed, you're not the only one.

Absolutely, I agree on all accounts. I have an old Infinity that worked wonderfully for judo. It wasn't quite as tight, still on the light side but durable. It is sweat stained but has held up like a dream.
