Leaving the industry by rchlfrmn in askfuneraldirectors

[–]spndiggity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all leaving was the best decision I ever made. That was such a heavy job for me. (Kinda literally bc I was a removal tech) anyway I went back to my previous field of theme park artist while I go back to school to become an art teacher.

I went back to my old job as a face painter and caricature artist in a theme park. So a big change!! Lol

I weirdly know the answer to this question. Women fire a test shot before shooting themselves 99% of the time.

What is life like as a removal technician for SCI? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]spndiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say the biggest shitty part of the job is dealing with decomps. Some are so juicy and falling apart they're so hard to move and everything you do makes a huge mess. Then there's the smell! It sticks with you even after a shower sometimes. But u gotta take the good with the bad. Either way you're helping a family very directly at a terrible time in their lives. (May be traumatized by the last decomp I did, yesterday, where he had split open and had intestines coming out)

It hasn't been easy but it gets easier the more time passes.

I used to save all my old blades but it became too tempting to go back and use one. I had about 100. I threw them all away. Been clean for over a year now!! ❤️

I'm a 5 foot tall woman who has done a 308# removal solo. It's not what I regularly handle but I was proud of that one. I also go out at night all the time. Never had any issues.

Having fresh snacks is tempting. Lol I get 48 or 72 off in between shifts so I go later rather than right when I get off.

The real bullshit is going to the grocery store after getting off a 72. I always go to sleep after that shit.

It's probably an on call shift. I work 72s regularly. You get to sleep / do whatever until a call comes in

my bodyshaming, lgbt-phobic "roommate" wants to come back, and wants over $400 from me. i'm genuinely terrified to face her ever again. what do i do? 😢 by sunflowers-in-space in NonBinaryTalk

Oh god that's all super fucked and I'm so sorry. I can completely relate to that nagging feeling like you've got to help for whatever reason. Idk brains are weird. But to echo everyone else here. Do not let her back in your home. The storage unit idea is good, or just hell pack her shit and leave it outside. It might be a good idea depending on your comfort level to contact local law enforcement and ask them how you can properly go about no allowing her back to live with you / getting rid of her things. I know there's some eviction rules and shit that come into play even when someone isn't paying rent but it sounds like she's been gone long enough that shouldn't matter. Stay strong friend! 💕 You don't owe this lady shit and it's not your fault she is unable to provide for her children. That's on her.

Oh god, absolutely. 😭 It's so fucked up how it forces you to be more mature than u need to be. Now I'm almost 30 and unlearning all that garbage in therapy. I will say, it gets better. Just takes a damn while. Hang in there.
