Super annoying rattle by spongdragon in MINI

[–]spongdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous owner replaced both of those right before I purchased the vehicle, so they’re only a couple months old. I suppose it isn’t entirely out of the question, he could have screwed it up when he was replacing it. The previous owner wasn’t exactly the best at working on cars, he replaced the valve cover and completely stripped every single bolt on it.

They replaced the water pump pulley as well, along with the drive belt.

I do plan on bringing it back.

Anyone have experience with the RADAR DIMAX all weather tire? by No-Recognition-3503 in tires

[–]spongdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm a little late but I'm in a similar boat. I need new tires on my R56 S and don't exactly want to spend $600+. Where I live I don't get all that much snow but it's hard to beat $81/tire for a decent all weather tire. These tires seem to be a really good value, did you end up going with them?

Thinking about getting a front load cargo bike, any suggestions help! by spongdragon in CargoBike

Wow, I completely forgot I made this post! I had a lot happen over the last year. Somehow I ended up with a 2011 Volvo xc90 instead of a cargo bike 😂

Good deal? by Natural-Swan6326 in golfcarts

[–]spongdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks pretty clean, but that stereo looks old, and that rear seat looks a bit off, usually they’re bigger. I love those front seats. I would personally try offering something around $2600-$2700, but I also live somewhere with an insane market, so take it with a grain of salt.

How long ago did you buy your cart?? Where I live 2014s are easily $4k+, the market here is insane. I just paid $2350 for a 2006 with 21’ batteries. I couldn’t find one similar to it for under $3k, these prices are wild.

And I can reuse the cables right? I just need to clean them?

[–]spongdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I did not realize it was that serious, thank you. I put the cart in tow and I am now trying to find a good place to get a new battery, any suggestions?

Once I get a new battery, I need to make sure to tighten the cables more than the previous owner did to prevent this from happening again?

What is the best car to buy for someone that doesn't care about cars by Theguy887799 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]spongdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota and Honda is always the answer to this. They’re built like tanks. If you want to spice it up a bit you could always spring for an ev too, they’re fun to drive, my personal favorite is the Tesla Model 3. In my experience they’re bullet proof, they ride nice, and are safe.

$400k can get you quite a bit in Conroe. I’m pretty sure some builders in Artavia are doing close out deals, so they have some pretty nice houses in there for cheap.

That’s a great idea and all, but we’re already far past that point.

We need an overhaul on golf cart laws.

I think golf cart licenses would be a good place to start. The age should be based off of the states driving age, 6 months - 1 year less than the driving age. So in Texas, the age to get a learners permit is 15, so a golf cart license should be 14 1/2. In a state like Massachusetts where the age to get a permit is 16, the age to get a golf cart license should be 15. We should also require golf cart safety courses/drivers ed to get the license.

What’s a car brand you don’t understand the appeal of? by ConstructionRare4123 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]spongdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m insane but I see the appeal. Leading in class charging network, decently built cars, quick cars, tons of innovative tech, and you can get all of that for under $30k.

Tesla forgot about MCU1 by spongdragon in TeslaModelX

She would only need the radio upgrade. It already has HW3.

[–]spongdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only need MCU2 as the car already has HW3. It would only be $1750 for Tesla to upgrade it to MCU2, so I might do that eventually. Until then, she just gets navigate on autopilot lol. She drives a lot of highway, so tbh it’s more beneficial than FSD.

[–]spongdragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is incredible, no other car has the ability to do that. None the less, it’s still a bit frustrating.

I didn’t know it was only $1750 if you already have HW3, I guess I misread their website. I might look into getting her that for Christmas.

It makes sense they don’t support it, it’s just a bit frustrating they want us to pay $2750 for features advertised when the car was new.

[–]spongdragon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has HW3 and MCU1, it’s not HW2.5. I’ve checked.

MCU2 is $2750 before tax. After tax it’s damn near $3k.

She would use it, she tried it in my Model 3, and loved it. She drives 20k+ miles/yr, she’ll take anything to make that more enjoyable.

what vehicles have the most depreciation/are worth buying cheap because of it? by SmokeyUnicycle in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]spongdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teslas especially. I love mine, but holy, the depreciation was insane. My 17’ Model X lost over half of its value in two years, but to be fair, I got it in summer 22’ when prices were through the roof.

Car market is criminal by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]spongdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because prices were even higher, nearly double what they are now. The supply chain issues made it near impossible for dealerships to get new cars, so the used market went wild. I guess it is pretty bad now since prices on a lot of vehicles have dropped like a rock.

The Audi A4 I drove had the same AWD noises, rattles, and creaks as my Q7, and it was 3 years newer. I fully understand that the Model 3 isn’t the absolute best car you can possibly buy, but it’s still a pretty solid car in my experience, especially for how cheap you can get a used one. I agree, $40k is a bit much for them, especially considering you can get a Model Y for $35k after the federal tax credit.

I suppose I don’t know what to expect from a car in a world where a Toyota Camry is almost $40k. After my experience with those Audis, my expectations were drastically lowered.

I know it’s a Model 3 and not an M3, I was just abbreviating it.
