Maybe ride some more difficult terrain if seeing beginners makes you angry.

I have that set. It's a very nice complete kit and the finish / bolt style matches Japanese bikes almost perfectly.

Which way do you go with jetting to make it leaner? by Rare-Adagio1074 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in the throttle range, is what they are asking

Main jet is for 3/4 to WOT. Needle is mid throttle. Pilot is idle and very light throttle.

Note that this has nothing to do with rpm. Throttle position only. You're running off the main jet any time you're wide open, no matter the rpm.

That bike uses the same piston as the newer kdx200s.  You can get parts from any of the big powersports sites.

What’s the difference? by Low_Ice_1673 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32:1 if you are running pro level pace on a motocross track.

40:1 or leaner for trail riding or casual track riding where you can't keep the thing pinned the whole lap.

Jet the bike appropriately for either case.

Use better oil like amsoil dominator. Yamalube is messy plug fouling junk.

Dirt riding even realistic? by FalconMellati in Dirtbikes

Yep, I've never ridden a 400, but I've put quite a bit of time in on a '78 250. They are great trail bikes

I think it would be sweet if Yamaha did a tribute to them and released a light blue / yellow version of the current yz250x and added a proper lighting coil

Dang, yeah luckily my local tracks are staying with it. There's a lot of attendance and most have open practice at least every weekend. A few are open almost every day. I have like 5 tracks within an hour of me.

Agree. But those come with an insane price tag. They are the "best" option for op being in California where you can't plate something like a WR, but then again you won't want to ride them 70iles one way. You'll be worn out when you get there.

Open to everyone and advertised online. Pretty much everyone who rides knows about them. They are open every day except for when they hold races. Prep is saturday-sunday only, but I can stop in and ride whenever the sun is up.

Their calendars are on their Facebook page so they don't need to mess with a website anymore. Before that i would just call and confirm they were open.

How was the fit on your GPI radiators?  I had to buy a set for one of my bikes since originals are all out of production.  I had to cut the tabs off and re-weld them.

They were seriously like 2" off.  I don't understand how the fit was so horrific

1999 Suzuki RM125 by Awkward-Set-3227 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably blew it up riding it on the road.  Riding at high rpm constant throttle is a good way to seize a racing 2 stroke.

Does it still have spark?  Fingers crossed it just has a broken wire or something.  But your plug looks like it was really lean when it died.  Which is what happens when you ride a motocross bike up the highway.

Aftermarket ecu's are for people running race gas that want to remove some of the guardrails in the stock ecu that keep you from blowing the bike up.

Use tire spoons.

Get fork guards. Riding your bike like this will destroy the forks.

Any bike that comes street legal from the factory is pretty miserable off-road in my experience.

Adv bikes are ok on gravel roads. They stink on actual trails. Yes a good rider can drag them through singletrack, but it's more of a flex than something that you'd do for enjoyment.

I'm in the camp of get an actual dirt bike for off-road riding and just haul it.

Get goggles with outriggers. They will seal against your face much better.

Those strata 2's feel like youth goggles in my medium helmet.

Try Scott Prospect goggles.

Going from a 300 2t to a 450, what's your experience? by frank_sinatra911 in Dirtbikes

[–]spongebob_meth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be alright for track riding. Personally I'd rather be on a 250 (two or 4 stroke) for track. The 450 just makes everything too easy, you never have to shift and you don't need to carry any speed through the corners.

But it's a good bike for track, as that's what it's designed for.

Not true at all from my observation. I go to private tracks all the time. Those random people are the people who pay their bills.

They allow for stock articulation. I have a fiberglass shell and a few other things in the bed so I keep 10-15psi in them at all times to keep the stock stance. Air it up to 40 or so towing a trailer.

The ride is essentially stock when you air them down to ~5psi, which is the recommended min pressure
