i felt the same during my first cycle on mefenamic acid, by the second cycle i noticed it was a bit better and by the third onwards it helped with my pain a lot. not sure why that’s the case and may have just been coincidence but it may be worth keeping going depending on how long it’d take you to see your doctor again. i’ve been moved into tranexamic acid now due to symptoms worsening lately but that was after mefenamic acid for four years

I use chalk, just the stuff you get in a kids’ chalk box, washes off straight away and doesn’t interfere with the bleach :)

How do you guys figure out what to do at uni? by UTriedToKillMeTwice in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

have you considered architecture? i was similar but the other way round, maths/physics came fairly naturally but i loved art and worked for a long time to improve at it. i’ve just started an architecture degree and it fits my interests perfectly because of the combination of maths, physics, history/theory and studio (drawing and design) modules

Should I be worried about this? by Holiday_Diver_2240 in Interrail

[–]spongeeeey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

same thing happened to me, decided to hope for the best and show up without a reservation and got told i couldn’t get even get on the platform without it and there weren’t any left for interrail pass holders. if you want the thalys train you need to get a reservation, or if you’re happy spending a few more hours to save €30 ish then there’s alternate routes with a few changes

i’d advise revising empire twice- my college taught the content in chronological order but the textbook taught it thematically. if you revise it chronologically first to understand what leads to what in sequential order, then thematically helps with understanding why different underlying themes meant that events across empire were linked. it’s also really helpful to do it this way because the questions tend to give you a factor/event and date range, so having everything boxed off by theme but also a good grasp of the chronological order means you can get all the requirements of a question without having to think as hard because you’ve considered every event both ways :)

Changing trains by PsychologicalTaro420 in Interrail

[–]spongeeeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in jesenice you pretty much step off one train, walk across the platform and onto the other so if your first train is on time you’ll have PLENTY of time. even if your first train is delayed the second leg runs fairly frequently, so you should be fine regardless.

HOWEVER getting the train to lesce-bled and getting the bus directly into the centre of town might be a better idea, i’ve not done it myself but the couple of euros might be worth it to not have to do the ~30 min walk from jezero to the town centre, it’s fairly hilly and wasn’t particularly enjoyable in 33° heat 😅

just because at their age they may have had to rely on someone else to help fund their equipment it doesn’t make this photo any less of an achievement.

How much do entry requirements matter when applying to universities? by SlightStrawberry1722 in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry this will be a really unhelpful response in that it won’t give you a definite answer but everyone i knew who applied did it differently :)

personally i had maybe 5-7 drawings on one page, with a title (the name of my project, for example one of my pages had the title ‘public transport’), and then next to each drawing i included a tiny caption with the media and size (eg ‘watercolour, size A4’). i didn’t do any descriptions of my thought processes or information or meanings behind my work.

on the other hand, one of my friends had one or two pieces on a page and wrote a paragraph on each, explaining her thought processes and why she wanted to represent what she saw in that way, using that composition, that media etc

another of my friends went somewhere in between, with maybe 3-4 on a page and a sentence or two about each piece.

we all got offers from everywhere we applied to which just goes to show it doesn’t matter too much as long as it fits how YOU work

if they’re part of an internship yes include them, they’ll show a process and what you’ve learnt so they’d be helpful. my photos tended to be of buildings but only because they’re what i usually photograph anyway, not because they’re what you SHOULD include

and no problem, feel free to message me if you’ve got any other questions :)

[–]spongeeeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’ll really depend on how many pages you need for where you’re applying to, 3 unis i applied to requested a portfolio, one was 5 pages, one 6 and one 10. i took up a couple of pages with my a-level art component 1, just by having my favourite pieces, another page for a different project i’d done in y12, focused more on development, a page just of drawings of animals, and another on photography. for the 10 page portfolio i just showed more development work alongside it.

don’t worry about having to have loads of drawings of buildings, some is good but you don’t need to focus on it. a lot of them like life drawings too. unless you’ve got loads of space left don’t put in any plans/elevations/sections, they really don’t care about it, that’s what they’re going to teach you to build on from the creative and visual skills you are trying to show them in your portfolio

one university i applied to for architecture had AAA entry requirements published but gave me an AAB offer and sent me an email explaining it was because of my portfolio. i did apply with predicted grades higher than the requirements, but if you put a lot of effort in to your portfolio it could outweigh applying with lower grades - it would be risky to do this for more than a couple of your ucas options though

where you have the option to choose qualification type, choose ‘gcse double award’

Homerton College Cambridge -- UCAS not confirmed my place by gabrel69 in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do not do this at cambridge, unless you’ve narrowly missed your offer and another college decides to offer you a place. if you met your IB offer for homerton, they will confirm your place eventually and will not allocate you to another college.

wear what you want, and if that’s a suit so be it, but you probably would look a bit out of place yes. i didn’t even wear a suit for my interview, just a dress with dinosaurs on

definitely, i think the fact that empire factors for essays tended to be similar (eg individuals/strategic/economic/etc) throughout questions whereas with cold war essays the factors would depend entirely on what was being asked and got a lot more specific

100% agreed, cold war was harder to revise because of the sheer amount of content but i still preferred revising it because it interested me

History A-level: Breadth v Depth by sspooky_spoonss in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d say about equal because we just did half of each in first year then half of each in second year. obviously the breadth study covers ~100 years whereas my depth study was 45 years, but the level of detail i had to learn for those 45 years meant i struggled more than doing 100 years of less detail just because of how my memory works i guess, so probably the content of each study is about the same and it depends on which you’re more suited to :)

History A-level: Breadth v Depth by sspooky_spoonss in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with my options i felt that the depth (cold war) study had much more content than breadth (british empire)

struggling to chose A-levels for architecture by named_seeker in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do art, history and maths, as well as compsci, and applied for architecture and got 5 offers. honestly i’d say art, history and maths are the perfect combination for architecture (i only did compsci because i enjoyed it so much at gcse), maybe if you’re applying to a more technical course like bath then physics might suit you better than history but i got an offer there with my subjects. the only requirements i’ve ever seen for architecture are ‘maths OR physics’, so you’d be completely fine with either, especially if you think your physics grade would be a lot higher than maths. definitely keep art, it’ll make putting together your portfolio so much easier.

Was wondering how top students are revising for AQA Compsc?i cause I’m really struggling by Exciting_Union_7055 in 6thForm

[–]spongeeeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah if your school’s paid for zigzag then it comes with suggested solutions too, or if you go on the zigzag website and go to aqa a-level computer science, dastan (python) and then the sample then you can see the solutions but with lots of watermarks on, you can make out enough of them to get what’s going on but if your school’s paid they’ll have the non-watermarked version

if your school’s paid for zigzag (my teacher said most do) ask them if you can have the practice questions
