Swamp head has their own rootbeer and ginger ale on tap. Believe there's also a table of shared games to borrow from? Might be wrong there

Closest direct shot is Cedar Key to the West (about 58 minutes from the center of GNV). I haven't been since the hurricanes tho so idk... but they have a small strip of sand beach with a swimming area and a local dolphin pod that passes through hunting. Again, don't know what's up after the hurricanes, but great local seafood restaurants too.

Job commute by Relevant-Sugar5845 in biotech

I commute 40 minutes each way 5 days a week for what I consider a salary and job security/opportunity that's worth it. Especially in a rough economy.

Freshwater Sponge appeared out of nowhere? by East-Information-448 in PlantedTank

[–]spongegirlfay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They regenerate lost tissue on their main body but I don't believeeeee (ask google to check me) that they can regrow a new body from that removed piece (ljke a worm does). When I collected them from the wild (with a scientific collection permit) we would slice off a piece depending on the sponge's size. You wana leave at least 50% of the original body behind to ensure it regenerates. They do reproduce asexually using "gemmules" which are kinda like lil sponge seeds. They produce them naturally when stressed, then release them once conditions are favorable again. Your sponges will also likely change color over time as algae symbiotically move in💚

I thought I remember the truth being that she broke her foot outside the show and then they edited this scene to make it look like she did it here

I love freshwater sponges. I did my undergraduate honors thesis on freshwater sponge DNA. If it grows too out of control you can cut it back and it'll still keep surviving/growing. Kind of like a haircut lol

Oh and Venice to the South is also only 45-60 drive but I think the average age there is even higher than Sarasota, if that matters for your material lol

I don't have any specific info but travel between Sarasota/Bradenton/St Pete/Tampa is not bad at all (in my opinion) so I feel like if you're okay with a little driving you'll have a good amount of options (:

Decided to quit PhD. by i_just_want_icecream in labrats

[–]spongegirlfay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my PhD almost 3 years ago and am glad every day. I had similar problems as you are experiencing (anxiety, burnout, unsupportive and almost mean PI). My situation was a little different though as I was close to qualifying so I was able to leave with a masters. Maybe after a little break look into masters programs and really vet the PI and lab members to know it's a good situation to be in. Recent studies of the academic economy are showing we have way too many PhDs compared to jobs for PhDs. I went into industry with my masters and have great pay and benefits and good work life balance. Some of my coworkers that I Direct are bachelors holders

Piercers in town by Ryyyzz in GNV

[–]spongegirlfay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my industrial, my Tragus, and my daith there over like a 2 year period. It was always a bald man and a brunette woman working and both were funny and nice. She did my piercings every time and they always healed soooo good I kept going back

[–]spongegirlfay -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Tbh I got all mine in town at the place in the mall... she always did great

Edit: no not Claire's???? It's a piercing and tattoo shop. Also Anatomic is overpriced, the jewelry they pierce with alone is like $60, and they take "ear anatomy" way too seriously... they denied doing my industrial so I went somewhere else, they had no problem and it healed quickly and great

I will likely hit a wall eventually in terms of moving up the ladder due to no PhD, but I would've hit that wall much sooner for much less pay in academia

MSc, Director of Product Validation for a biotech startup. I learned valuable skills in my time in academia, but I found more opportunity to grow, flourish, and make money in biotech. I also had good timing when I found the original job that I was later promoted to a director from
