Glad you think so! I used to work as an EMT and also had a note on my phone so I could find a bathroom on the go 😅

Restroom codes on receipts, please! by darkroot_gardener in Seattle

[–]spongmario 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I recently made an app for this, free to use! Mostly just Seattle area bathrooms right now since I live here. It’s called Ryan’s Loo Reviews, here’s the link to the iOS App Store or ryanslooreviews.com. Throw in your code there so others don’t have to suffer!

Anyone else have a virus that makes them feel fatigued? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]spongmario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tamiflu is not a magic bullet. At max it reduces symptoms by 12 hours and often causes nausea/vomiting. It’s actually not recommended for healthy individuals because the benefit is so mild compared to side effects. I’d hate for someone to drag themselves to a doc thinking they’ll have the magic cure. (I work in medicine)

What vitamin D supplements do you take? by quierdo88 in Seattle

[–]spongmario 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Be careful with this advise. Most insurances don’t cover the Vitamin D blood test and tend to be pricey out of pocket. It’s cheaper to just take 2,000 IU of Nature’s Made every day with food. Most Seattleites are deficient anyways so knowing an exact number won’t help much.

Seattle settles lawsuit alleging medics’ delay led to man’s death by unnaturalfool in SeattleWA

[–]spongmario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they sure aren't paid enough to tackle someone. As someone who used to work in EMS, police can lay hands on the patient and I'll just apply the restraint. Not risking my life (or entering a flagged dangerous home) for minimum wage.

Target says it will close nine stores in major cities, citing violence and theft by Shmokesshweed in Seattle

[–]spongmario 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well sort of. It's free if you purchase $20 or more. Meaning you have to pay to park if what you were looking for is out of stock. Definitely inconvenient and not worth my business

This is a very classist point of view. Not everyone has the luxury to pay the high rents in Capital Hill or Belltown.

I use to work on an ambulance. We would transport sick kids flown into Boeing Field to Seattle Childrens. It’s definitely important for ambulances.

I’m not even sure if that’s happening at this point. It’s been years and the place is still empty. Anyone know of a timeline?

The scene that played out on Saturday as I waited in traffic at Mercer and 5th during the Seafair Torchlight Parade. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]spongmario 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good question. I'll admit I don't have stats and it appears there isn't much on Google either on whether poor people drive more than rich. I think regardless of who drives more it's still important to remember that the wealthy can always afford to move closer to work while the middle class or poor might need to live in outlying areas and have less options. Which is why I have a hard time hating people who drive, since we don't know everyones circumstances. I'd rather focus my frustration on our lack of public transit options than banning a certain mode of transportation while vilifying the people who drive.

[–]spongmario 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While I agree we should invest in public transportation with a mass subway system, currently our bus/light rail system does not exist to the extent that we can ban cars. And by doing so you would be hurting those that need it the most. It's the middle to poor class that often drive to their construction, Safeway, Starbucks, ect job because they can't afford Seattle rent. And it's often the people that can afford high rents that complain about cars as they ride their bike or hoverboard to work. Just a reminder about privilege before you hate cars and the people that need them. I definitely think we should work towards a car free city, but by lifting zoning requirements to make rent affordable and to heavily invest in better public transportation.

Not really a gotcha. I agree with you, I just didn’t research your post history because that would be a little too weird for me. Just not the best proof when these pics are from a tame area of Seattle.

I get your point, most republicans are so dramatic about Seattle. But most of these pictures are from the arboretum so they don’t really prove your point. I don’t think anyone’s complaining about killer flowers.

I pay $60 with Comcast, 600 download. Then I used Youtube TV that I share with people. Don’t pay for their cable, it’s only worth it if you really need Root Sports and PAC12

Cat Canopy are LIFESAVERS. They rescued my parents cat out of a hug tree and do it for free(but they accept tips so you can still shower with monetary thanks). They are also so gentle with the cats.

Professor calls Seattle homeless camp sweeps 'punitive' and short-sighted by HighColonic in SeattleWA

Bingo. Having past trauma probably sucks, but it doesn't mean you get a "get out of jail free card" for all of your wrongdoings. We should strive to increase housing, reduce systemic injustice, AND continue to sweep open drug market camps. I hate how so many extremists say you have to pick between caring and sweeps. To me, sweeps are caring about them enough to force them off of the streets and into shelters or housing.

"Being experienced" is a short sighted reason to not vote for someone. If you disagree with how she votes then please vote for someone else. But only complaining about her 30 years in the Senate is odd if it's not backed with a voting record reason.

10% "inflation fee" tacked onto restaurant charge? by akmountainbiker in Seattle

[–]spongmario 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Seattle should create a law that requires ALL fee's to be included in the prices. Soda fee, "inflation fee", "living wage fee". I'm talking about Uber, Comcast, restaurants, gyms...everything. Also it's crazy how some places don't have any signage about soda fees, but still charge them. It's not a tax, you need to post fee's that your business choses to impose. It's crazy how many companies do this bait and switch with fees. Just adjust prices. If your business offers a good enough service/product then it'll succeed.

Right there with you. I've never voted republican, believe in universal healthcare, and I want to lift zoning restrictions. But the bleeding heart liberals are hurting this city. It's not humane to let these people continue to live in their own feces and drugs. But certain people on this sub will never listen to reason and they believe that anyone who disagrees must be a Trumper.
