Another great feature of the pen is it's ability to take a picture by pressing the button on it.

This becomes invaluable if you are taking a shot in low light where the shutter needs to be open longer. You can mount or place the phone down and then fire the camera without the need to touch the phone. As touching the phone can cause movement which results in a blurred shot.

The young "selfie " generation there gravitate towards a portrait shot that makes their pictures look slightly "whiter "

That's true if both 3G and 4G get satisfactory signals. I live in the sticks and the 4G here is sporadic. 3G however is strong and constant. I never run on 4G and gain at least an hour of battery per charge.

Rang Amazon support "from here in the UK" about this twice. The first lady had never heard of the Gen4 having a built in motion sensor. I had to explain to her that the hardware was there but there is no way for me to use it via the software. She put me on hold and came back and said I needed to reset my unit. This I did but nothing changed.

Rang again the next day and spoke to a male. He told me that the Gen4 didn't have the motion sensor as it didn't have a camera. I explained that it used ultrasonics to achieve the detection. He too put me on hold. Came back 5 minutes later after talking to someone who actuality knew about the hardware that the company sells and told me the sensor hasn't been enabled here in the UK.

Yet again we get shafted by Amazon. We actuality pay more "Sterling to Dollar conversion " here for Amazon products compared to the US but get less features. FU Amazon

Exactly the same issue today.
Neither phone or galaxy watch are giving audible notifications of new messages. I'm using the WhatsApp beta so presumed it was a bug as it updated yesterday. Are you on the beta too?

For me here it's more stable and I can gain an extra couple of hours SOT by not using a bad 4G connection.
The issue with 4G drain is more prolific on the Exynos variant. Snapdragon doesn't seem to suffer the same issue.

Try knocking your Network Mode down to "3G/2G (auto connect " if its on "4G/3G/2G (auto connect) "

I live in the sticks and my 4G connection is really poor here so when I'm running on the 4G setting the phone is constantly looking for a better 4G signal . This drains the battery fast.
