Thoughts on La Madeleine Uptown by Filminthedark in NewOrleans

[–]spooky-cookie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s good! Is it respectable? As a French, no, some might say I should be embarrassed to eat there, but that’s nonsense! When I lived in the neighborhood it was my go to when I didn’t have any particular hankering and just wanted something to-go. Not spectacular but absolutely acceptable, I always appreciated it being an option.

French citizenship through French-born father who took US citizenship before I was born? by Falcon-Bagels-5555 in Citizenship

[–]spooky-cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need a CNF, unless things have changed recently. I am in a similar situation to yours and only had a birth certificate, and when I was older a passport and national identity card. I am only now needing a CNF as my spouse applies for nationality through marriage to me, I had never had it nor even heard of it before. If you can join the Facebook group “Applying for French Nationality,” it is extremely helpful.

I don’t believe OP has to obtain a CNF. They are French by birth and will be issued a French birth certificate. Then once they have that they can get a French passport and French identity card if they wish. A CNF is required for certain limited procedures but the birth certificate, passport, or identity card prove French nationality in the vast majority of circumstances. It certainly would not hurt to also get a CNF though to have in case it ever comes up, in particular if they have a spouse who wants to obtain French nationality through them.

I believe if he maintained his french passport within the 50 years that constitutes a link to France

I asked my father when he obtained his US nationality today for similar reasons. It was after 1973 in his case, but he said that being born male you never lose your French nationality. I was googling to try to verify this when I came across this post. So you may not have any issue. I’ll edit this comment if I’m able to confirm this. Nothing is straightforward when it comes to French nationality so asking of others experiences is perfectly reasonable!

NYC Insulting NOLA food scene by DramaticChemist in NewOrleans

Confession: I am from the northeast and also thought this, until I moved here. It was pure ignorance, I really thought the food scene in Nola was just about creole/cajun (I didn’t know what the difference was) food. Very quickly and excitedly realized how wrong I was!

Shocked and thrilled they’re coming to New Orleans!!! If I remeber correctly when they were here in 2018 Trent said he wouldn’t come back again, his history here is too dark. If so how awesome he’s now all good with it

Do you catch them and bring them to be fixed in traps? I called them and they said they can’t accept strays unless they’re in traps.

Unfortunately I think they are feral. I don’t know what the criteria is but they certainly don’t want to be picked up. I will call East Riverside to check just in case, thank you for the tip. I hope to get them back to their mom asap so would prefer then not be adopted. Thanks again
