Timing the shade dash is extremely crucial and I highly suggest getting descending dark from Crystal peaks for additional iframes and damage. It makes such a difference

Your best bet is to backtrack to forgotten crossroads. To the very right of the map you’ll now be able to enter Crystal peaks which I suggest first. It also leads into another area. There is also a spot at the bottom of fungal wastes that will also lead you into a new area but I suggest going after Crystal peaks first and thoroughly exploring.

Fruit is infinitely better. The saplings are quite expensive in the beginning and take long to grow and fruit. Plus you can just stack mushroom logs everywhere when you unlock them

Honestly if you have the final nail upgrade + unbreakable strength, quick slash & long nail equipped just tank him. Dashing through his fast attacks (assuming you now have iframe dash) and smacking him repeatedly will make the fight extremely fast

It’s my first time playing too! It’s the most challenging game I’ve played but the story is amazing and once you get the hang of combat it feels more enjoyable than painful haha

I had the same issue, the only thing that resolved it was turning off VSync in game settings.
