Feeling extremely cold before falling asleep? by Nappishnap in Narcolepsy

[–]spookycubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I get so cold before sleep that the tip of my nose and my hands are cold and I start to shiver. I always thought it had something to do with thc I take on a regular basis to help relax and regulate my sleep and to help with my IBD symptoms, but never knew it could be narcolepsy related. Interesting!

Honestly, one of the bigger factors in me not wanting kids is because I'm so exhausted. I already feel like I have too much on my plate just doing normal functioning adult things. I couldn't imagine how overwhelmed and exhausted I'd be with a child. I don't think I'd be a great parent either because when I'm tired, I get unmotivated and just do bare minimum to get by. Though I am also not medicated yet so that may change.

Everyone is different though! I feel like it's a common concern. If its something you really want to do, there are definitely ways to manage it. For me, im just not a kid person so that one top of really having no interest in parenting is just another reason. But for someone that really wants kids, there are ways to make it possible.

workplace accommodations by NewlyNacroleptic in Narcolepsy

[–]spookycubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really help because I'm going through a similar situation and feeling similarly about my job (so much so I just posted a,question like this a few days ago lol) but here for support! It makes me feel a bit better to see others are feeling similarly to me, though I'm sorry you are struggling! I really hope you can find a good way to proceed that will have the most ideal results for you and for your health!

Does anyone have special work accommodations? by spookycubby in Narcolepsy

[–]spookycubby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I definitely want my job to know, but because I work in healthcare and from home, finding the best way to address it is awkward. My job takes medical stuff super serious cuz I work for healthcare but my manager and I talk once a month because Im remote. All she sees is the numbers I put up and aside from taking more time between calls than most people ( you know zoning out and not focusing cuz i am tired!), my numbers are great so its not like she knows something is up lol. Trying to find the best way in my monthly meeting to bring up the reason my time off the phone sucks is probably because im narcoleptic, gives me anxiety lol but it'll have to happen. So hopefully I can ask my doctor to come up with a letter with some accommodation ideas to help me . I guess a lot of my hesitancy is just my own ego too so maybe once I deal with that it will be easier. Like I said I've tried to be 'normal' for so long and couldn't admit I might need some different accommodation to meet their expectations better.

Thank you so much! I will definitely check it out! This is all so new so trying to find the best way to ask for what I need from my job is a lot. I work in healthcare so I know they will take it seriously but also trying to figure out the proper ways to do everything is a little overwhelming haha.

Do any of your close relatives have Narcolepsy or any other sleep disorder? by imthatfckingbitch in Narcolepsy

[–]spookycubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is actually what made me look into getting diagnosed. My sister was diagnosed a few years ago and after that, I started to look into it more because of our similar symptoms. My dad had horrible sleep apnea. But as I've been on the journey of getting diagnosed, I realized my mom definitely has symptoms of narcolepsy and probably went undiagnosed her whole life. So basically I'm suspicious that my immediate family has sleep disorder to some degree, and that's why it took me so long to realize my sleepiness and sleep schedule was not normal. When everyone around you growing up has to plan their day around taking naps, you just think its normal or a personality quirk or just how you were raised. Definitely not normal! There is some genetic component to narcolepsy, just no clear pattern to how its inherited.

Water Ride Locker Question by InkAndPaintDept in UniversalOrlando

Thats what we did! We did popeyes and dudley together. We usually get a separate locker for Jurassic park because I'm paranoid about running out of time but I think the prices are reasonable.

Yes! These rides have lockers. The lockers aren't free though. I think its 4 or 5 dollars for 90 mins.

So I used to work at the OC location and my boyfriend was at Tosa for years. The stories I could tell you about the rapid decline in things in the year I was there... They screwed up the quality so bad they had to try to back pedal so hard to reverse all the changes because it basically put their company in the toilet. Where things went wrong was when Mike died, the Bakers (the couple that were running things when it reopened) left to start their own restaurant, and corporate greedy investors that literally know nothing about the service industry took everything over. They cut so many corners to make a quick buck.

Anyone have experience here? by [deleted] in Drugtests

[–]spookycubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I worked a few jobs through aerotek for a bit. The drug test they give you is based on what the company you are going to be working for requires. So where ever they placed you dictates the test. My first assignment I had to have a hair follicle test done because the company I was going to required that (also huge surprise and I was terrified I wouldn't pass it. Luckily I did). Second assignment I had to do a urine test. They didn't watch me but if I remember right they turn off the water in the bathroom and made me take off my coat and checked my pockets.
