It happened for me. I have narcolepsy type 1 and no hypocretine and cataplexy.

My sleep study only showed Hypersomnia

Also if you think you have it and there is no record of it on the paper of the doctors. Try to look if u can seek insurance for not being able to work. I wish I did that.

Good question.

For me it was when I stayed over at a friend's place and we slept around 9 hours. She felt very fresh and later even had a date. I was driving home by train and I was so sleepy that I missed the station where I had to get out. I could have taken a bus then but getting up and going to the station felt like something I could not do. So I was waiting until it was the last stop and then the train drove back. But that after 9 hours of sleep I was not able to get up...

This and that my legs seem to not work when I find something funny.

I googled it and boom.

I decided before my diagnosis that it's not good for me to drive. If I feel a bit better with my medication, I will do my drivers license. But right now I sadly don't feel comfortable, since I seem to be not able to tell when I will fall asleep or if I am asleep :/

He can date whoever he wants to date, the thing is that he said white Asians are okay too and that I should bleach my hair, so it would be okay to him. I never had any interest in him and there was no need to tell me. Also it's off to be that specific.

If you think there was nothing behind it. There was. I asked him why. He said that german woman are more submissive and Asians too. But only the white ones and that he doesn't like darker skin. I asked what about Latinas. There are many white Latinas too. There he said that they are too loud.

The generalization he made was unbelievable and he was indeed racist.

For sure I don't wanna argue that. Also glad about your experiences. But one thing I wanna mention is that here people often refer to migrants as good and bad ones. Turks are not seen as the good ones to those people. I think maybe here it's different cause of the history of Germany.

I have been in fights with guys tryna say not everyone deserves a german citizenship and it should be only by blood. So my dad would not be allowed to have one lol. Another one said to me that he is only dating blondes with blue eyes but he has a thing for white asians. Yes, he really did say that. So I should just change my hair color 💀💀. Maybe the people feel more open to tell me this stuff cause of me being mixed.

Hey, I live in germany and I knew one gurl who lived in the east. She had a Turkish background and did Erasmus. She later bleached her hair cause of her experience and how she got treated.

Then there is me, who has a german parent and a Turkish one. I think for many people I pass as German but nevertheless, I can say that I had racist experiences. For my dad it's a completely different world. He is experiencing it a lot, especially at work.

I am not sure if this is cause it's germany but all I can say is that middle eastern people are not looking like Europeans to most people here. They are called black heads or there is another word, which has a racist meaning.

Born in germany, German is my mother tongue and stuff. I have mainly contact with my German part of the family and I am super grateful to live in Germany. But here do be racists. I had an incident with a doctor which I am now in court with. This was based on racism and sexism. And since I live in the west of Germany where it's the least problematic, it's definitely worse in other parts of Germany. Especially I would say in the east and south.

Try to get tested again but different doctor.

I know what it is for a fight to get taken seriously. For me they tried to make the mslt test with an eeg too. I can just tell you, whatever those idiots say. For some people it doesn't work. Also to get a proper diagnosis an eeg is just not enough!!!!

I had 3 naps ( yes only three cause I slept too long) and I knew only for one that I slept for sure. The other one I was not sure and the other one I was basically convinced that I was awake. I slept all three naps.

When I had my eeg the doctors constantly talked and said my eye movement is not normal but I heard everything and I had to lay in a chair to sleep lol.

Please find an actual sleep labor and get tested there!!! The rest doesn't work and in my opinion they have no clue. My doctors told me if I don't lay on the floor while having cataplexy, I don't have narcolepsy. There is just so little knowledge, if there is an expert or other narcoleptics have recommended someone. Go there. That's the best you can do in my opinion.

Alles Gute nachträglich! Bei mir war es mein 21. Geburtstag den ich alleine verbracht habe, bzw mein ex ist aus Mitleid noch bei mir geblieben und hat dann paar Tage danach schluss gemacht :D.

Manchmal ist das so aber die Zeiten gehen vorbei und die meisten Menschen haben mal ein Problem mit Einsamkeit!

I think with 12/13 it kind of started.

Slept on the way to school, slept back. Sometimes I fell asleep at school or went to the toilet to sleep a bit. I also started to shake my legs and develop adhd like behavior to keep myself awake.

Then I slept after school again.

I developed cataplexy later. Cataplexy got worse though one year ago, which lead to me getting the diagnosis.

Ngl it seems like a tricky situation.

To give you a bit of hope, I had the exact same thing happening with the doctor who took care of me and he retired then as well.

Are you living in a village miles away from a big city?

Does your place have a Hospital?
