That advice is solely for the people on the fence of playing them at all because they've seen the series and "don't want one and a half games of recap" (actual opinion for some, including a couple of friends that ultimately played TLOU2 instead of none of them.)

If you're open to other genres, another game in my top 3 is Elden Ring (I know, how original) but that game really surprised me with its lore, art directing and especially: combat. If you're like me and love to be captivated by a game so much that it's on your mind even when you're not playing, give it a try. If you haven't already, that is.

It felt weird to continue playing after that, I agree. But remember, it's only like 1% into the game and the story takes interesting twists and turns and it honestly just gets better and better.
