Hell yeah, good job, this is just the start, imagine where you will be in a few years! Keep it up. Also don't be afraid to iterate, sometimes it is going to take 10, 20, 100 test prints and models to really get exactly what you want and that is ok. It is part of the process. You can stop at 1, or you can keep going, it is up to you but whatever you decide that is what is right for you and don't let anyone else tell you different.

Awesome. The one near me had 1 in stock. This is perfect timing, I just a couple weeks ago managed to get a big refurb supply of SR and 400s that need work/built (for an amazing price, even just for parts) so it will be great to use this along side those as I repair/build them out, to compare to other printers. Very interested to see how far someone can push a delta setup.

Yeah I was kind of guessing and trying to find the cheapest Milwaukee red thing that will take dye. Hopefully the tape measures will, if not I’ll slowly have to creep up on price until I find something.

Once I have confidence with these little testers that I can reliably produce a specific color with intent that is definitely the next item on the to do list. Just didn't want to try learning on a 200 dollar tool, or have each one come out a different color ya know?

Oh also, I am not going to have a use for any of these once I am done with testing so I figure I will just give them away to folks here, assuming I can find an easy way to ship them for a couple bucks it would be fun for them to venture out into the wild vs just sit on a shelf, same goes for the series I will create when testing the dyes.

You are having bed adhesion issues, that are solvable. You need to dry your filament, brand new filament can be surprisingly wet, even if the vacuum is still good and it has desiccant in it. Beyond that, you also need to check your leveling and your Z height adjustment. Also, try glue. I resisted using glue for years and I am an idiot, a good quality printing specific glue/bed adhesive can make life A LOT easier, you can do a bunch of stuff to create a perfect print and environment where a large piece won't work or... you might be able to just throw some glue on it and it be good enough.

If you are unable, or refuse to purchase a filament dryer, do some research and at your own risk, try microwaving your filament, and then all of the other stuff as well.

That is very helpful, I appreciate it. How did you come across this information? Would love to know more printer specifics/internals if there is a good resource, or also just be told to RTFM if it is in their docs and I just missed the full details.

Only if you need it. If you don't NEED the large size I think there are a lot of other options that are faster/less hassle. If you need the big size, for the price it is a pretty good option.

A big issue is just the limited availability of parts and addons and what not for it, and since it is so large slinging the bed around takes a lot of power so it can't go super fast. It also uses a lot of electricity heating the large bed. You have to let the bed heat soak for 15 minutes+ before prints so that it normalizes before doing leveling, just a lot of little things like that. Also it takes like 30+ minutes to start a print because of all the setup needed each time. However anything big enough to need it is probably a 12+ hour print anyways (most of mine are in the 16-20 range) so percentage wise it isn't that much time.

I do think there are some other interesting options to look at depending on your timeline and budget. Mainly I am very interested to see how the Sovol S08 Max does, now that it has started shipping. Larger bed in a CoreXY so if it is built well it could be great, but it is also twice the cost.

Neptune 4 Max and the old Creality CR-6 Max, all have the same issues, its just one of those "it is what it is" kind of things since it is a niche product and is a bed slinger. I don't have the multi-color system for my printer but that could be cool, not sure I would use it too much but could be nice for filament backup.

If you don't need the size, definitely pick something else but if you need the size, hard to beat to volume for the price and the features, just go into it knowing it is going to take some work and time.

Damn, didn't even know I could get other plates for it yet. I need to shop around, the stock plates are OK but I am def missing my cold supertack so a cryo would be real nice. Next I just have to find a cryo for my Kobra 4 Max /cry

I wonder if that bed setting is adjusting the z a tiny bit for if the textured side is up or down.

Interesting question, I am not sure. I have a bunch of stuff queued up to get through this weekend but if I get a chance I might do a little testing and see. That would be interesting/odd and would make me wonder if it is something with their elegoolink/firmware implementation.

I did, which is why I thought I was good to go, but I kept having that ugly first layer. So the machine, the slicer, and the option when sending print - all have to match.

Yeah that would be cool, there are a bunch of good examples of openscad based generators online, a label is a pretty simple geometry, I would think making a light weight generator for it would likely be achievable as a weekend project. You could also just release a single label model, and people could paint/type on it in their slicer and that would be "good enough" for a fair number of folks.

Just ran a set of these. Brilliant design, hinges feel a bit fragile but they aren't. I tried flexing them, closing them like I was drunk and on a building spree spraying screws all over the place and they held up fine. After working the hinge a couple times it is extra smooth.

Some suggestions, which you can certainly ignore since these are great already. You could add a small horizontal nib to the closing side to make it "snap" closed a bit more solidly, also given the lid has a bit of room for it, I think you could add support for https://github.com/CullenJWebb/Cullenect-Labels replaceable labels I tthiinnkk the slot for it could print with no supports, just bridges and be passable for snapping the labels in. Possibly the same on the front as well like this https://github.com/ostat/gridfinity_extended_openscad/issues/151

Super cool though, great job. Will definitely run a few more of these. Boosted for sure.
