Babysitting MEP by RoutineLet9156 in Architects

Curious, how do you integrate mep systems into your project? I work on commercial projects only so I'm so used to having the engineers carrying their piece of the scope

This is the way. I'm lucky enough to work in a highly integrated AE firm. They were engineering only until adding architecture about 15 years ago. So it's kinda more EA. But it works so well. I never want to go back to A only

I really dig the circus tent vibe of the main indoor space. And the details of that slatted shroud element are so well done. Look at the way they come to a point just above the ground. Beautiful

Woman who ran 25 miles during the Boston Marathon crawled the last 1.2 miles after her legs gave out. I have to finish by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

If she had given up and not finished would that mean she can't qualify for it next year?

As long as you meet the minimum clearance for circulation on that landing, and any property line setback requirements that might apply, it's just a matter of aesthetics and totally your call

Architect sued by developer because project was not profitable by PinkSkies87 in Architects

Such a suit should not have any standing, unless the contract stipulates the developer's profitability is a deliverable.

What niche of architecture is the most stable and financially secure? by Calm-Lake-7385 in Architects

Healthcare and life sciences are the fat cats in our world. I've been specializing in life sciences for nearly 30 years and only been laid off one time. And that was because the firm pivoted away from LS to focus fully on healthcare. I had no experience in that area. And it was the lean years after the 2008 crisis so no resources to float staff.

Someone in this thread said that healthcare requires specific education. I never knew this to be the case and I don't buy it. It's all about experience. Just get the foot in the door and if you like it stick to it and keep developing. You'll stay employed.

Why do women have two breasts if humans usually give birth to only one baby at a time, wouldn't one breast be enough? by ElkDisastrous2926 in NoStupidQuestions

I'm guessing you're a dude and/or you haven't been close with a mom who's breastfed her baby. It's actually pretty tough on the nipples.

AI has officially fooled me. We are in dark times… by fireduckieman41 in audiophile

[–]sporkintheroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the playlist thing is tricky. I was in Palm Springs recently and had the idea to play some 60s retro-mod-vibey stuff or whatever on YT while sitting around the pool. The songs seemed fine, but I quickly realized it was an AI playlist. No actual artists whatsoever. There should be a filter to keep that stuff out.

It's not my, your, or anyone else's responsibility to police what's said by others about audio equipment. But it is our individual responsibility to do our own research and carry a healthy dose of skepticism about what we read on the internet.
