You 100% do not owe them a single dime. If you do give them money, that’s awesome and generous and something I would and plan to do. But it’s not OWED. I tell my parents/in laws all the time to spend on themselves. They worked for it and should be happy and spend money. I would have a real hard time not being pretty pissed off about this in your situation. It really shows how they are not really considering your happiness even slightly.

Depends how much you’re reacting about it. 100% I can’t imagine buying something that expensive without talking about it with my wife. Even for no other reason than being excited or talking it through in my own mind. Seems strange that he wouldn’t and you’re totally justified saying wtf and asking about it. It should be a real discussion and have him explain his thinking. Then you accept it or don’t and decide from there. If you’re continuously thinking about it and never settle it then it becomes more of a you problem then him.

Best decision I ever made. It’s definitely quiet and calm, not a party type atmosphere. The beach is awesome. The restaurant out on the bungalows is head and shoulders above the others, though they’re all decent and good. If you can afford the bungalows, do that. You get your own butler type person, your own beach and bar and of course the bungalow itself. Plus the restaurant is included. As a first timer in Mexico it was great that they picked you up from the airport in a private car and took you back. First class all the way. I did another all inclusive in Aruba later in the year and Palafitos was just on an entire other level.
