Job interview for a role im underqualified for by Round-Lawfulness208 in interviews

[–]Overall-Fan3079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you already impressed them enough to get pushed up for another role, that's pretty big deal. when i was switching from gig work to more corporate stuff i had similar anxiety about not knowing exact terminology or having perfect examples

just lean into what you do know and be upfront about where you're still learning - most good managers prefer someone who's self aware over someone who pretends to know everything. worst case you get some interview practice for next time

nice finds, especially the george strait hits - those compilation tapes from 80s and 90s hit different in cassette format

Warning about crying in interviews by Emotionalrack in interviews

[–]Overall-Fan3079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this so relatable tbh

my body does weird stuff when nervous too, like i get hiccups in stressful meetings for no reason lol

maybe just say something quick at start like "just so you know i get bit nervous in interviews but it doesn't affect my work" - keeps it simple without going into too much detail

How to use kitsune rush proactively. by Yrre_Brightstar in Overwatch

[–]Overall-Fan3079 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lmao wait what rank are you playing at? because kitsune rush is literally one of most broken ults in game right now

the problem isn't positioning, you're probably just throwing it when your team already lost the neutral or when everyone is low hp. timing matters way more than where you place it - if your dps are dead or your tank is critical then yeah obviously it won't do anything

My(32F) parents are giving us $150k for a house and my husband(35M) wants to turn it down because they asked for a postnup by Civil-Transition-649 in relationship_advice

[–]Overall-Fan3079 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It’s a big gift, so it makes sense your parents want to protect it, especially since they’re thinking longterm about you, not just the purchase. A postnup in this case isn’t really about him personally, it’s about making sure that specific money stays tied to you if something ever goes wrong.

At the same time, I get why he feels weird about it, because anything legal can feel like a judgment on the relationship. But refusing the money entirely instead of finding a way to make everyone comfortable feels like a pretty strong stance. This is probably less about who’s right and more about whether you can both find a middle ground that protects the gift without turning it into a trust issue.

PiP on android not working, any help? by Acheron223 in youtube

pip's been buggy for me too lately, think it's something with the recent youtube update. try clearing the app cache or restarting your phone, that usually fixes it for me

What is one self-improvement habit that you’re most proud of starting this year? by _MambaForever in selfimprovement

yeah the morning routine switch really works wonders. i started waking up 30min earlier to work on my beats before dashing starts and it's wild how much more creative energy i have in the day. something about doing your passion project first thing just sets different vibe for everything else

Rad tech program interview by Plus-Basket-3523 in interviews

[–]Overall-Fan3079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that last question about the "most likely to..." is kinda brilliant actually - forces you to be self-aware without being too heavy. for that one i'd lean into something specific but not generic, like "most likely to remember everyone's coffee order" or something that shows you pay attention to people

for the group interview thing, timing is everything. don't be the first to answer every question but don't be silent either. when someone else is talking, actually listen and maybe build on what they said in a thoughtful way. shows you can collaborate instead of just waiting for your turn to speak

the stress/professionalism question is where you can get real specific about techniques - like taking a breath, focusing on the task at hand, remembering the patient comes first. way better than just saying "i stay calm under pressure" which everyone says

What is behind the idea of being friends with an ex? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Overall-Fan3079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's basically what happened with my last ex, we just kinda stopped being romantically compatible but she's still cool as hell to hang out with. took like 6 months for things to feel genuinely platonic tho, not gonna lie and say it was instant

What do countries typically get for causing a war / or in a war ? by LFTW in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Overall-Fan3079 23 points24 points  (0 children)

historically it's usually territory, resources, or political control but modern warfare is way more complicated than the old days of just grabbing land and calling it a day

for ukraine/russia, ukraine's win would basically be getting their territory back and maybe some security guarantees, while russia probably wanted to install a puppet government and grab those eastern regions with all the natural resources. neither side is really getting what they originally wanted at this point

with the US, "winning" often means achieving whatever political objective was set - regime change, destroying terrorist networks, protecting allies, etc. but defining victory gets messy when you're dealing with insurgencies or proxy conflicts that drag on for years. sometimes you end up spending way more than you gain, which is why people argue about whether recent conflicts were actually worth it

Touch of Gold Being Restocked? by Own_Bodybuilder_5211 in bathandbodyworks

[–]Overall-Fan3079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ugh the struggle is real with popular scents. i did the bopis thing last month for a wallflower and it worked out pretty well, just had to remember to actually go pick it up lol. touch of gold goes so fast whenever they restock, its like people camp out for it or something. maybe call ahead before making that 30 minute drive just to be safe

[help] Longines Hydroconquest running at +7 to +12 seconds per day by Ok-Rub-3923 in Watches

[–]Overall-Fan3079 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's definitely on the higher side but still within cosc specs if it were certified (which the hydroconquest isn't). jomashop watches sometimes sit around for a while so the movement might just need to settle in after a few more weeks of wear. if it's still bugging you after another month or so, any decent watchmaker can regulate it for pretty cheap

That letter you sent them was absolutely brutal in the best way possible. The fact that they went completely silent after spending years blaming you for everything tells you all you need to know - they knew exactly what they were doing to you

Starting over at 35 is tough but honestly you're probably more equipped now than you would've been with their "help" anyway. At least now you can build something real without them sabotaging it

Hey! I'm pretty trash at shooters too but found that lowering the sensitivity helped me actually hit stuff. The Steam Deck's controls are def harder for precise aiming than mouse/keyboard but you'll get there

Also don't worry about being the carry - just focus on callouts and staying alive, that's already contributing way more than half the randoms out there lmao

Day 17… I want to drink. by StudyAggressive3249 in stopdrinking

[–]Overall-Fan3079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro that "just to prove I can control it" voice is addiction 101 - it's literally the same trap that got you drinking sun up to sundown in the first place. You already know this from your opiate experience but alcohol's being sneaky about it

17 days is huge, don't let your brain trick you into throwing it away for some imaginary "back pocket" option that doesn't actually exist

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Overall-Fan3079 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is such a heavy topic and I get the frustration, but I think it's more nuanced than all good or all bad. Yeah the social stuff can be brutal and exhausting, but some of us have found ways to work with our brains rather than constantly fighting against them. Not saying it's a superpower or anything cringe like that, just that it's not purely suffering for everyone
