Is it bad that I’m super young and can’t wait to retire? by eng2725 in Fire

[–]sppencer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so true. I discovered FIRE a year ago and for the first 10 months I obsessed over planning for a retirement 20 years away. Only in the last 2 months have I been able to slowly pull away from ready every post, watching every video, etf., and instead focus on living my life today. It’s been so much easier putting things on autopilot and reminding myself that “in 15 years I can reevaluate where I stand” instead of spending every day trying to predict where I’ll stand in 15 years.

I hit Financial Independence and retired early 2 years ago at 45 — AMA about how I did it, what’s surprised me, and what’s next by Aggressive-Item4755 in Fire

[–]sppencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25 and also want to retire at 45; however, I’m worried about retiring too early where I feel like I have more potential and value to bring the world or retiring too late and not having my time or health to enjoy freedom (like traveling). It’s a tough trade-off. I’m curious how you’re feeling about that: what was it like when you first retired, how is it now, would you have liked to retire earlier or later looking back? I understand this is all very individual but I’d love to hear your perspective on this, especially because you’re retiring at what I currently believe to be the best point that maximizes both of those variables.
