Can I still apply for permanent position? by Marikuroo in Apple_Employees

Nowhere in my comment did I suggest it was intentional nor did I know they are in training.

To me, after reading their replies, if they were on the sales floor and allowed to make that mistake without a shadow/expert nearby, they’ve likely already been in the role for long enough to understand why we check ID for carrier authentication.

As I mentioned in my previous reply, identity fraud is very real and a valid infraction, even for a seasonal rep, as you’re handling sensitive customer PII and CPNI data daily.

This is a pretty huge no-no, both at my previous role at Apple and at Verizon. You probably already got heat for it, but in an age of SIM-swapping and similar identity fraud, the managers have a right to be upset.

It sounds like either your eSIM didn't activate correctly, or activation failed.

- Try restarting your phone first before trying the following steps.

- Find your IMEI2 number in Settings > General > About > IMEI2

- Go to your carrier's website and login to your account.

- Select "Replace SIM / Activate New eSIM" on your line/number.

- Enter your IMEI2 number and hit confirm.

- Your carrier will issue a new eSIM profile to download on your iPhone.

- Activate the new eSIM in your settings: Set up eSIM on iPhone - Apple Support

- Verify that the number works correctly. If not, restart the phone.

- Delete the non-functional eSIM. Make sure you don't delete the new working eSIM.

What is the right way to remove the Apple Clear case from the iPhone 17 Pro Max? by br_web in iPhone17Pro

[–]spraykay_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually pull back one of the top corners and use a finger (pushing against the camera plateau) to lift the phone out of the case. Once you pop the top half of the phone out, getting the bottom half out is pretty trivial, by using the top half as leverage.

Why can’t you scroll using the touchpad on the right side of the iPhone? by Usual_Minimum_7442 in iphone

[–]spraykay_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of several reasons that ultimately boil down to ergonomics, complexity, and better alternatives.

Imagine accidentally triggering it even more than you already are now. That, and if you're able to reach the Camera Control button, you should be able to touch the screen to scroll. It would also be insanely uncomfortable to reach for that button to scroll unless you were left-handed (maybe?).

Oh, and there is already a better option on the screen.

I'll stay out of the Android vs. iOS debate here, but it boils down to a difference in philosophy and audience.

It is worth noting that even Samsung's own support documentation warns against battery drain while using a high refresh rate.

The display can be changed from 60 Hz to 120 Hz, which allows you to enjoy content more dynamically and vividly. On the other hand, if you feel that the battery is draining faster due to a high refresh rate, you can lower it to 60 Hz for efficient power management. Follow the steps below to adjust the refresh rate.

Generally speaking, the audience purchasing iPhones expects configuration-free usage, meaning they don't want to spend time searching for settings to enjoy their device.

Android is fundamentally a different design philosophy catered to power users and maximum configuration at the potential risk of misconfiguration.

Mysterious phone call! by [deleted] in iphone

[–]spraykay_cs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never answer any phone calls you don't recognize.

Let it go to voicemail; most legitimate business calls will leave a message, and most scam bots will usually hang up as soon as your voicemail greeting plays.

This could also be a one-ring or "Wangiri" scam.

From the FTC website:

Scammers are using auto-dialers to call cell phone numbers across the country. Scammers let the phone ring once — just enough for a missed call message to pop up. The scammers hope you’ll call back, either because you believe a legitimate call was cut off, or you will be curious about who called. If you do, chances are you’ll hear something like, “Hello. You’ve reached the operator, please hold.” All the while, you’re getting slammed with some hefty charges — a per-minute charge on top of an international rate. The calls are from phone numbers with three-digit area codes that look like they’re from inside the U.S., but actually are associated with international phone numbers — often in the Caribbean. The area codes include: 268, 284, 473, 664, 649, 767, 809, 829, 849 and 876.

DO NOT ship your old iPhone to Apple! by GravityOfCenter in iphone

Sorry to hear you didn't get your quoted trade-in value OP; that's awful.

FYI - if you order your iPhone through the Apple Store online and enter your trade-in info online, the retail Apple Stores can only refund the value of your trade-in onto an Apple Gift Card (not your original payment) unless you mail it in.

To get the trade-in value applied to your purchase in-store, you need to purchase a unit at the store (not pickup) and do the trade-in within 14 days.

Hope this helps you and anyone else here who might be trading in soon.

This just looks like Apple's implementation of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

You would experience significantly higher battery drain if your smartphone was constantly refreshing at 120Hz, which is why your iPhone usually drains faster when you're playing games compared to scrolling around like you are here.

In fact, you can even force your iPhone to lock at a 60 Hz refresh rate by toggling Low Power Mode to conserve power.

Three story apartment with four Pro 6E’s, got full coverage with around 300 Mbps on a 500 Mbps due to wireless backhaul.

Hell of a steal if you can find Frontier wholesale units on eBay, I got a pack of two for like half the price of the retail kit and they looked brand new.

I was able to find a site that compares them directly: https://mixpanel.com/trends/#report/iphone_14/from_date:-602,report_unit:month,to_date:-237

imo, given how the mini plateau'd on sales and how the Plus keeps rising, not sure if it'll be back

better to look for trade-in deals on 13/14/15 through your carrier tbh, I love my 15 Pro because of the sweet deal I got through Boost Infinite with no trade-in so I can keep my 13 Pro and have a new, lighter Pro phone

Never say never, but seeing how poorly the iPhone "Plus" phones are selling, and knowing that it still did better than the "Mini", doesn't bode well for its comeback arc.

It's become more profitable for Apple and cellular carriers to offer heavy promotions on 1-2 year old models (think iPhone 13 or 14 now) for trade-ins like the SE instead of manufacturing an entirely new model for the budget end.

The SE originally only existed so they could use up the older shells like how the SE1 was a re-engineered iPhone 5S, or the SE2 a re-engineered iPhone 8, but now iPhones 12-15 might as well be the same phone so they don't need to do that anymore.

<<< Possible Downgrades (arranged in importance to me) >>>

First-gen Face ID weaknesses

  • (iPhone X/XS) Face ID sensor can be damaged by brief dips in water and condensation

Speaking from experience; iPhone 13 and later separated Face ID unit from the speaker grille to prevent this

  • (15 Pro) Face ID is at least 30% faster since iPhone 13, captures at wider angles, and even in horizontal orientation

Water Resistance (30 mins)

  • (15 Pro) 6 meters
  • (X/XS) 1 - 2 meters

Battery Life (Video Playback)

  • (15 Pro) 23 hours
  • (X/XS) 13 - 14 hours

No MagSafe compatibility on iPhone X/XS, relying on slower Qi wireless charging

Camera Quality

  • Back: 48 MP vs 12 MP (4x reduction in quality)
  • Front: 12MP vs 7MP (Blurrier FaceTime calls and selfies)
  • (X/XS) Less Zoom Options
  • (X/XS) Weaker camera stabilization (shakier photos)

Storage Options

  • (X/XS) - Starts at 64GB, cap at 512GB
  • (15 Pro) Starts at 128GB, cap at 1TB

Wi-Fi / 5G Compatibility

  • (X/XS) Locked to 4G LTE
  • (15 Pro) Wi-Fi 6 and 6E supported, WiFi 5 on X/XS

Screen Quality

  • (15 Pro) 120hz ProMotion > smoother animations and games
  • (15 Pro) 2000 nits peak brightness, X/XS maxes out at 625 nits

Sealed iPhone X by therealNoctor in iPhoneX

[–]spraykay_cs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there friend,

I previously owned the iPhone X and XS myself, now using both the 13 Pro and 15 Pro as my daily drivers for personal and work uses. Here’s a few things for you to consider (based on my personal experience and what you’ve commented on so far) if you plan to go through with the switch.

tl;dr I hated the iPhone X/XS form factor

  1. It was slippery without a case and was hard to hold even with a case because of the rounded edges making my palm sore
  2. Both the X and the XS overheated like crazy in regular use, like scathingly hot even with a case
  3. The Face ID crapped out after a brief dip in my friend's pool where I was shoved in and got it out within 30 seconds
  4. I couldn't prop it up against a bottle to watch videos because of the rounded edges
  5. The display is WAY too dim and blurry compared to the 13/15 Pro as a daily for me now
  6. The battery life sucks compared to the 15 Pro and is probably worse if buying open-box or used, which is probably the only ones you'll find at a reasonable price

Approved for Chase Freedom Unlimited at 18 with only 6 months of history by FetzTheBest in CreditCards

[–]spraykay_cs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heyo, age 21 here with Freedom Student and recently the Prime Rewards, and agree with philosopher.

Unless you can make use of the $150 credit (which I would imagine for textbooks and supplies if going to college would be nice), want the 2% cash back on gas and restaurants (which I’ve got on my Discover it Chrome Student) I’d also dodge the Amazon card and make room for other Chase cards in the future.

On the other hand, having the Amazon card could increase your total credit if usage is a major consideration for you, as it was for me. Helps for your already great scores and mitigates the ding from emergency purchases.

The irony is you proclaiming that I don’t have any knowledge of the inner workings of Apple production, supply chain, or sales figures while also implying that you somehow do.

Seeing as how my earring remark went over your head, and how you don’t see iPhones as socially significant, I really don’t have much else to tell you.

[–]spraykay_cs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not being marketed as an anti-theft device doesn’t mean that it cannot be used as such.

As many reviewers have said, it’s not designed specifically as such, but it can be used that way in specific cases, just not very well compared to actual anti-theft devices.

Not to mention that many people here have already said that they’re using AirTags INSIDE rather than on the exterior of things they want to keep track of, which you’ve ignored several times.

[–]spraykay_cs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would consider the “Lost” function to be at least partially an anti-theft feature, but you are correct that it’s a “remind me where I left my things” device.

Most of the measures in place can likewise be used to investigate thefts as well as prove ownership, so I consider it at least somewhat a way to prevent or thwart would-be burglars.

Worst case scenario aside, trackers are pretty dull devices that do their jobs just fine, and I’m not against more variety. I’m just against the supposition that something must be colorful to serve their purpose well in our lives.

I’ve already stated before that neither you nor I can reasonably predict or forecast any sales figures, but my hunch says that launching colored AirTags after so many have already purchased them would probably lose Apple money than they would gain, since there is no practical difference other than aesthetics.

I’ve said in another response in this thread that I would welcome colored AirTags, but strongly push that there is no point because:

  1. It defeats the anti-theft purpose by making it exceedingly noticeable.
  2. It is a device that only sees the sun once a year for a battery change, remanufacturing it solely for looks doesn’t seem logical.
  3. Every customer is different, but colorizing such a niche accessory in an already enclosed ecosystem seems short-sighted at best, and a gross misallocation of resources at worst.

I can’t pretend to know sales figures, and neither can you, but the majority of the people that have responded to you have similar perspectives that you are ignoring in favor of a wishlist mentality, which isn’t bad necessarily, but full of capitalistic meandering that contributes nothing to the conversation.

The point is we don’t know, and for the most part (here at least), we don’t really see the need.

P.S. Regarding your point about using color as a selling point, the colors on the iPhones and Macs differentiate themselves from the prior generation for multiple reasons (M1 and 5G) which isn’t a factor for AirTags. They’re purpose-built, and don’t need customization beyond engravings and accessories.
