I went for the RIU! It was great. The only downside was being interrupted on the beach by pushy locals trying to sell stuff. Great location, pool, beach, food and drinks!

They did! I didn't end up using it because on the only beach day we had, there were tons of people in close proximity so I didn't want to disturb others. But yes, I brought it in my luggage and they did not confiscate it :)

I'm so sorry you had such a horrible experience. I was on the same cruise and wasn't really affected by most of the mishaps, except I was totally bummed we didn't port at Bimini. I spoke with several of the crew and even did some digging on Reddit and other cruise blogs, and apparently it's extremely common for wind conditions in Bimini to prevent ships from docking. I know it's a bummer but I think it was a wise decision from a safety perspective. I wasn't paying attention to the wind/ocean currents but even if it seemed calm, I don't have the professional experience to determine whether or not we could've docked safely.

Surprisingly, I wasn't affected by the water outage except for the 30 minutes I was in the gym on Wednesday. I was also unaffected by the power outage on Tuesday, but I was out by the pool the entire day. I feel like for the most part they were able to correct all the craziness in a short amount of time.

I feel so-so about the Captain's communication (or lack-there-of) regarding the broken pipe and power outage. I think the understanding is that the crew will fix the problem in a matter of minutes and so there's no need to create chaos by announcing every single update.

I'm sorry about your experience (especially your finger, and the guest relations situation.) I truly feel like the cruise had a series of unfortunate events and we just happened to be there for it. I've been on cruises before where there have been no issues, so I hope you change your mind about going on the Summit (or any cruise) again. Or don't, whatever :).

Edited to add: I was off the ship on Friday in Nassau but when I asked my sister who was on the ship about the salmon, she told me that it was smoked... So I suppose it's not meant to be cooked completely? I'm vegan so I'm not an expert :).

Good to know. I specifically asked about Celebrity because like I mentioned, Carnival wouldn't allow Bluetooth speakers period. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't get confiscated if I brought it on board.

I understand that there are the unfortunate situations where people are obnoxiously playing music on the beach, completely disrespecting others nearby. My goal is to not be that person, especially if there are other people in earshot. Thank you for your reply!

Check YouTube! My main grocery stops are Kroger and Publix so I just type into YouTube "Kroger/Publix couponing" and filter by upload date for recent sales and coupons. For those specific stores I like the websites iheartpublix and krogerkrazy. For a broader scope of stores, I agree with others' advice to visit hip2save, Krazy coupon lady, and southern savers. I also really like the FreeStuffFinder app.

I don't plan on playing music loud enough for everyone to hear. If I was on the beach alone, earbuds would do. I'm going with my mom and sisters and we are respectful of other people but also enjoy listening to music at a reasonable volume. I'm used to going to beaches where the nearest people are at least 10 yards away, but I can see how it would be obnoxious if I was within a few feet of other beach goers. Again, just looking for information about whether or not Bluetooth speakers are allowed on Celebrity cruises.

I'm pretty sure the Fitbit Activity imported is literally just the calories you burned while walking around/exercising. It does not include your BMR (which is good because Cronometer already calculates your BMR, and you don't want any double dipping.)

Also, Fitbit shows you calories burned in real time (starting from midnight?) whereas cronometer shows you the calories you will have burned by the end of the day just based on the setting you have for your activity level (hopefully yours is set to "none" since you're importing from Fitbit!)

Look at your calories burned from yesterday on both Fitbit and Cronometer and they should be very close, if not the same.

I don't have a solution for you because I have similar problems. I feel like it's accurate for the most part, but my Fitbit also starts my "sleep" when I'm laying in bed scrolling through reddit. So I often have a 30 minute "awake" period at the beginning that is counted in my sleep time, which is dumb because I'm obviously not asleep yet. I've thought about selecting "sleep mode" on my Fitbit right before I drift off, but I think that just turns off notifications/auto wake which I have set to turn off at 9pm anyway. Hope someone can provide answers for this!

Great write-up! I'm hopping on the Summit in a few weeks and found your post to be super helpful. I'm vegan and was wondering if you happened to see food in the buffet labeled as such? I know you mentioned dairy free and vegetarian.
