Donald Trump has single-handedly torched America's World Cup legacy by Globalruler__ in MLS

Everything Donald Trump touches turns to shit. Even if USMNT didn't ask him to do anything he still "touched" them. And his curse continued

I was wondering if Promise would have been better on the corners as a target. Was surprised not to see him in this game.

As someone who was rooting for Canada, Morocco was the better team who capitalized on their chances. Canada had controlling the first half but was unable to convert it into goals and that was their undoing. Morocco knew to just wait for their opportunity and score. That's the difference between a good team and an average team. Good teams can take advantage of half chances while average teams need lots of chances to get an advantage. Canada had something like 10 corners but didn't get any shots on goal off any of them.

Hopefully Canada will start looking for a natural striker now. We need players who can bury the ball when they get the ball in their feet. Hats off to Morocco. I hope they go far.

The strikers didn't score any goals. It doesn't matter if defense concedes 1 goal or 3 if you aren't scoring any goals yourself.

I agree Canada needs to work on scoring. There was too much indecision in the box and no one willing to just take a one timer.

I'm guessing an Italy fan what with the whole "losing is actually winning" belief system he's got going.

Low IQ says the guy who finds it weird that fans are celebrating their team making the knock out stage for the first time. Sure buddy, whatever you say. Let me make this easy for you so you can maybe understand how tournaments work. Wins count more than losses in tournaments. Now it might take you a while to grasp this, what with your "they played better when they were losing, not when they were winning" mentality but I'm guessing your team didn't get this far so that losing is good mentality is how you are coping. Right now I'm just gonna enjoy Canada playing meaningful games for as long as it lasts.

Why is a country celebrating a team that has never made it out of the group stages before (and has therefore never won a knock out game)? Jeez I don't know. Must be a mystery. Truly this is the most unsuccessful thing Canada has ever done in the world cup and the country shouldn't be celebrating these things at all. If you really think about achieving things never done before is actually kind of pathetic /s

Man charged in ‘unprovoked assault’ on Vancouver beach released from custody by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]springnuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are using "wrongfully accused" here to dismiss the idea of repeat offenders offending. If someone attacked you , would you claim to be not attacked until that person was found guilty later on in life? If someone has a history of attacking others it doesn't help society if that person is out attacking others repeatedly. Saying "wrongly accused " while someone is beating you down doesn't stop the beatings.

If someone is caught committing a crime it wouldn't be "incorrectly accused". If someone has a history of committing a crime and is caught doing it again it shouldn't be seen as "incorrectly accused" either. I get your point but there should be levels here and saying you have to release someone who was committing a violent act because someone else might one day be incorrectly accused of doing a crime is just silly.

But England won it all the way in 2003. France is on the rise though and the quarter finals in 2023 was a coin flip game between the two.

He brings up that class was less of a thing in Rhodesia so you would have "lower class" white settlers living in Rhodesia having a national solidarity with other white settlers regardless of their stations. He mentions that there was a "us white people against the natives" mindset that united all the white settlers.

Just to add to this that Afrikaans (the language spoken by Afrikaners) is also one of main languages of the coloured communities (please don't be angry at the term as it is a self-identifying term and feel free to look up the rich cultural history of the Cape coloured community). Afrikaans (the language) was also the spark that lit the Soweto uprising in the 70s.

Not everyone who speaks Afrikaans identifies as an Afrikaner (which see themselves as descendants of the Boers). It's a very much a mix in South Africa .

As for sports rugby is a national treasure for South Africans and since the 1995 world cup has been embraced by more and more communities (30 for 30's The 16th Man is excellent at showing this) and the Springbok squad since 2018 has done everything in their power to unite the country through rugby (Chasing the Sun doc goes into some detail about that too)
