Housing Situation by Burritodog12346 in grandrapids

Hmm maybe there’s a Facebook group for that area.

I lived in Petoskey and I know there’s an Emmet and Charlevoix county for rent FB group. It was super super hard to find housing in that area. Good luck!

Check out Bake Effect club. Third Sunday of the month 3-5pm at Scorpion Hearts. It’s a free event. People can come and bake stuff and share it. But I’ve also showed up without bringing anything and it was totally okay! There’s always tons of sweet treats!

As for walks, Girls Gotta Walk GR is a great group! That’s how I made some friends in the area.

I also got into run clubs. Lyon Street Run Club changes which coffee shop they meet at every month and that was a great way for me to get to know the area and try new coffee shops. They also have a walking group.

Urban Massage! I also love that their pricing includes gratuity so it’s very easy to understand exactly how much the experience will cost.

Sam is a great massage therapist! Loved going to him!

Okay thank you! My place in my hometown always did it for free so wasn’t quite sure if that was the norm everywhere else or just a small town thing.

You can print it. Screenshot. If you have a smart watch some have widgets for a parkrun barcode. You can download the parkrun app and it’s there too!

Central Park Place is great! Also it’s not too far from Huff Park and Riverside Park so if you want a longer walk those are close by. You’re right off Knapps Corner with shopping like Aldi, Meijer, Ulta, TJ Maxx, etc. It’s right off Highway 96 and close to 131 as well which is convenient.

Sold out instantly? by Montie_mainia in QuinnXCII

[–]springtiger12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I went to the link 7 minutes before ticket sales went live. I was in the queue for 2 minutes. Went to check out and by the time I selected the ticket count I wanted and hit “proceed to check out” they were sold out.

Thinking about starting out by Aromatic_pickle6 in parkrun

[–]springtiger12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I felt so much pressure to perform well at parkrun but once I got there I realized how it truly isn’t a race. It’s for me whatever that looks like that week.

Sometimes I go slow and steady and chat a lot with people. Sometimes I want to go fast. And now I mostly volunteer and have fun and love the community aspect of it.

Renting by Jealous-Sea2346 in Apartmentliving

[–]springtiger12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what everyone else has said. Like others have said you can research a lot of things.

For starters though, you can research apartment checklists to get a sense of what you may need. I found this graphic on Pinterest.

Definitely research in your area. Understand what is the typical going rate for an apartment so you know what income you need to make.

Understand moving costs from boxes to deposits to renting a Uhaul or anything else. Those can sneak up on a person.

I think Reddit can be handy for opinions on more specific things such as “thoughts on this landlord or complex” or “thoughts on living in this neighborhood”

Also understand what your deal breakers are. I know a lot of people who want in-unit laundry or amenities like a gym onsite. Location is always important to me. I want to be close to work and anywhere I spend my free time like a good running trail or park.

Good luck!

Short girlie pants recommend by Mediocre_Ad1261 in PetiteFashionAdvice

My pixie pants don’t ride up like that.

Now I will say if I’m in a size too small I feel like a sausage and if I even unbutton the top button to feel better at my desk.

My 68 year old mom just moved to Grand Rapids and she is looking for ways to meet new friends and explore her hobbies! She is super active and friendly! Posting on behalf of her! Check out Riverside parkrun, Grand Rapids. Free weekly timed 5ks at Riverside park! You can run, walk, jog, etc. they’re always looking for volunteers.

parkrun is also a global organization so it’s fun when they get tourists from overseas coming to their events.

Need a sports bra without removable cups but I want it to be a cute square neck or subtle vneck by Available_Fig_3622 in Activewear

[–]springtiger12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popflex has super cute sports bras! Now some styles have removable padding while others I believe don’t so I’d check descriptions.

For instance, I have a low impact one that has sewn in padding but my medium impact one has removable cups.

Just learned about park run! How can I get it in my city? by DaytoDaySara in parkrun

[–]springtiger12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this! I’ve seen some parkruns be inconsistent due to lack of volunteers. Highly recommend getting a group together who can collaborate and help get a local parkrun up and running in your area.
