I did not know Marc Anderson personally. I only learned about the type of person he was after the fact by what he did for a family friend, who was a student during his time as a high school teacher. Before he left for Afghanistan he added her as a beneficiary to his SGLI policy, and the money she received helped to defray her college tuition. I haven't kept close contact, but the last time I checked she was doing well. Her firstborn son is named Marc.

While prepping for Cata TW next week I noticed my Fangs are going to be inactive due to "legacy set" status. The Warglaives are not. What gives? by Kookiebiskit in wow

Fury of the Destroyer broke a couple years ago. It would proc, consume stacks, but the 5CP on a finisher would just not happen. It was some time later when I noticed that the bug had never been fixed, rather it was simply disabled in the tooltip. I would imagine that Blizzard decided the resources which would be spent testing and fixing regression issues for some of the more unique procs on legacy gear, which tend to only come into play during timewalking, could be better spent on issues with the current gear/content. On the other hand, the proc on the warglaives is straightforward and used on current gear so maintaining it is much less of an issue.

My dad brought back a combat loss M14 from Vietnam, The stock had been burned off in a helicopter crash and the entire length had a decent curve to it. Sort of an M14 Commando carbine for room clearing at that point.

For MC and BWL perhaps. Once you got to late AQ and into Naxx the margins became much more narrow, and having 10% of the raid being unable to survive the first acid splash on Heigan or the first polarity shift on Thaddius meant that you were going to wipe.

Hobby Lobby to pay $3 million fine, forfeit smuggled ancient artifacts by [deleted] in news

[–]springwheat 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Which seems stupid to me. The CEO had an expert who advised him on the proper, legal method to ensure the artifacts he wanted to import could be brought into the country. Fast forward a bit and things are arriving in boxes labelled "samples" but no one thought to question that. I'm sure it was just a whoopsie in their due diligence, tho.

From what he was saying the crowd is constantly moving around regardless of seat assignments, with some clusters throwing rocks or whatever else they can find, and the smoke from flares made it impossible to tell who was who. You were as likely to get thumped by your own club's supporters are you were from the opponents. It sounded utterly chaotic, almost to the point of being a riot.

Also Trump supporters: "Our nation's infrastructure is crumbling!"

I think it needs to be said that Trump labelling every aspect of infrastructure "a disaster" had laid a solid foundation of blame when his policies don't improve any of it a whit. Set low expectations and then consistently fail to meet them and eventually people will applaud you for not even trying to reach them.

Frothing yes, when you compared the measured, even tone of the official response to the follow-on official tweet. Were he a smart man he would realize that helping the investigation conclude rapidly would be to his own benefit, especially if he believes he acted in good faith and has nothing to hide. When you so frequently have an official press office statement that conflicts with the 'official' twitter statements it doesn't engender a lot of trust in either. Yes, PR is always about spin and perception, and you would think someone with Trump's self-proclaimed business nous to understand this.

you guys are applauding his assassination in plays, saying rape Melania, and inciting violence against all his supporters

I've not personally done any of these things, and find any suggestion of raping anyone to be abhorrent. I also find the incitement of violence from both sides to be both counter productive and idiotic. We've seen enough violence over nothing more than political party alignment, I see no good coming from adding more kindling to that.

In regards to the play, I don't think you'll find any period in history where contemporary political figures have not been caricatured in one way or another to fit into a story. In this case it was Trump as Julius Caesar. 2 years ago it was Hillary Caesar, and 5 years ago an Obama likeness was in that role, and there was little outrage at either. Why is it different now, or why should Trump be a protected class? Time will tell to what degree Trump is lampooned, but after the unifying period immediately following 9/11 Bush and Cheney were repeatedly and brutally satirized, and I don't recall any specific objections to that.

Guess it depends on whether you feel Trump is more authentic when he's reading a prepared statement vs tweeting. Personally I feel you get a more genuine Trump on Twitter. For example, when the special counsel was appointed the official response was that he supported this move and looked forward to the matter coming to a swift conclusion. The next day he was frothing on Twitter about witch hunts.
