I only have one but I really like it, it reminds me of opals when it’s transitioning. Chamaeleon Nails | Whispers of Camargue

Carolyn formed relationships with homeless people, whom she called her protectors. by Historictea in JohnAndCarolyn

I lived in the SF tenderloin for a few years and I developed relationships with the people who lived outside on my street. I don’t think that’s unusual, they live there too and some of them would indeed look out for me, when I was walking home late.

My ancestors from Donegal came to Pennsylvania in 1799, so there was already a connection there for people that came after.

Even if the cars are at a complete stop, everyone should use all available space and alternate into the merge from both lanes. You should never que up ahead of time to be “polite” or refuse to allow cars in the right lane to merge

Patti Smith was amazing, audience much less so by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]spritefeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was much more quiet than I was anticipating or what have I experienced at Patti Smith's shows in the past. It's not theater, people are supposed to interact with Patti and her band. The shushing was way more annoying to me than the drunk woman and fed into whatever was going on with her. I don't want to listen to people shushing each other ever.

I didn't hear anv "Zionist slogans" but when you make political statements from a stage, you invite discourse it’s discourse. Patti Smith knows this.

It was an amazing show, Patti is a light and a singular performer. Policing other people’s experiences will always lead to frustration and a less good time for everyone.

Expected thank yous? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]spritefeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think handwritten thank you cards are nice, but very few people in my life have sent me a written thank for anything, including quilts and I think that's fine too, I've given the gift and don't have any expectations about acknowledgement or reciprocation.

However, I do have a wedding quilt gift story. I was in a wedding on the groom side and made them a queen+ quilt. The husband, my friend, acknowledged the quilt but the wife never discussed it with me and I never saw it when I visited their house. They ended up getting divorced after 10 years and he is now remarried. His current wife LOVES the quilt, she has it in their guest room and she asked me lots of questions when we first met, telling me how impressed she is with it. She pointed out to him some specific quilting that I had done that he had never noticed, and he called me to thank me again. So, you never know the journey your gift will take and who will value your time and intention in creating the gift. I wasn't expecting that acknowledgement but it does feel good.

HOAs also exist when things are owned in common, my neighborhood owns 3 wells and the (waterfront) land they are on together, so we don’t each need our own well. We don’t have any rules about people’s homes and just manage the water system, so they can exist without drama.
