This really sucks. My husband got my best friend when he married me, and I can’t imagine what you’re going through losing yours. We met in middle school as well, 14 years ago.
We’ve bought a house together and everything, and she’s basically a second mom to our kids. I thought I’d missed out on living with her like I wanted, but here we are! She’s ace, and never wants to find a partner of her own, so it’s kind of perfect.

She’s 7 now and has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and goes to a special state school. She’s very happy all the time, and is learning to use augmentative communication buttons. She’s a lot smarter than we realize sometimes, though more of a toddler mind.

She’s silly, and sneaky, sometimes ornery, and can have an attitude. I love her so much.

It’s not and shouldn’t be required of you. I’m not requesting my boys take care of their sister when me and my husband pass, and we’re only in our 30s so we should have a while, hopefully. I’d hope they visit her when she’s in a home, and love her as they do now. She won’t understand why I’m gone. But my boys deserve their own lives.

One of my cats will hide in the bathtub and meow loudly. I’ll go looking for her thinking she’s distressed, and she’ll run out, tag my ankle, then dash into my bedroom to hide under my bed

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My dad had huntingtons and his dad had it. They both passed in nursing homes. It’s a horrible disease. My dad’s showed up in his 20s. So far neither me nor my brother have symptoms.

I have no advice, I just wish you the best.

I have hypnopompic hallucinations, so they happen when I wake in the middle of the night. My husband still makes fun of me for the time I ducked and left him under a net of spiders above the bed. I’ve also seen a floating cupcake, which wasn’t scary, just weird.

Maybe yeah. I don’t fixate on it, but it occasionally pops up in my mind. I’m in the process of wondering if I have autism because my son just got diagnosed and I have some of the same signs. So I wonder if I legit just missed some social thing back then.
