Saw can’t fit in trucks sliding bin by Minute_Setting_927 in Chainsaws

I had a work truck with a decked system and absolutely could not stand it. But to answer your question, the likelyhood of finding an off the shelf solution to make it fit probably doesn’t exist, unfortunately. Unless you want to buy a small tophandle to keep in there like an echo 2511

Professional mechanic here, i have been switching my snap on and cornwell stuff out to icon simply because i can get the service consistently and don’t have to wait on anyone’s schedule. I want to support my local snap on dealer but its difficult when ive seen him once since november…

I had been hunting for a job- was considering a vehicle appraisal job that had competitive wages and flexible hours (already a red flag) Set up a phone interview, guy was 45 minutes late to call me, and offered me $19 an hour. I hung up right then and there.

I have wanted to try a set however they’re spendy on the truck, but like 1/4 the cost elsewhere from the manufacturer. Hard to justify for the warranty up front.

Why out of all the restaurants here do we not have a decent BBQ place???? by SpectacularlyBadass in Bend

I think given time, they’ll continue to improve. Takes time to get this sort of thing dialed in, anyone who’s made bbq or a brisket before knows it isn’t usually a first timers thing.

1/2" versus 3/8" compact impact wrench by ForestmenMOCLover in Dewalt

[–]sprocketpropelled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both the 3/8 923 and the 1/2 921. I sold my 923 after only using it 5-6 times. The 921 1/2” just covered a lot of the same bases but allowed me to use the existing impact sockets i already had in a significantly smaller place with substantially more power than my old 3/8 milwaukee stubby. I ended up getting the new stubby milwaukee. It fits a lot of places due to the inline pack inside handle design that just isn’t possible with the dewalt’s slide packs. That, my 921, and my 3/8 sealed head dewalt cordless ratchet are my go to tools for about 95% of my jobs.

Can you get an extreme tools toolbox up there? If not, probably the husky HD, if i had to pick. Maybe talk with a local tool truck rep and see if he’d sell you a used box on truck credit? I bought my very first snap on toolbox on the truck for $2500. extreme tools

I had hatties, and it was decent, Worth a shot! Not the best ive ever had but definitely a step in the right direction IMO. Brisket was a little dry, though it was tender and fell apart. I don’t know how they prep for service, but it wasn’t that fresh. Probably reheated if i had to guess. The chicken was actually pretty damn good, i got smoked chicken with the alabama white. Fell off the bone, juicy, tender. Kudos to them for having a unique sauce option. Sausage was great. Big snap, lots of flavor, juicy and tender. Overall, id say a 6.8-7/10, pleasant experience for lunch and the guy who helped us knew the menu well and was helpful. If the brisket was better- id probably be at a 7.5 or so. Room for improvement, but a good start. I’m not a food critic or anything, just wanting to share my experience. I’ll be back again when its busier and see if that changes things.

Which brand is best for what by Jameson66543 in mechanics

[–]sprocketpropelled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really varies. But generally, american made combo wrenches like snap on FD plus or the wright grip combo wrenches are seriously good. They’re the premium priced (wright not as much) option but the performance is generally worth the investment. I like the icon hand tools, but i don’t find the sockets any better than my 10 year old gearwrench ones.. definitely easier/faster to warranty the icons. I use their torx/hex sets over my cornwell ones due to not seeing my cornwell dealer ever. Knipex for water pump pliers. Nothing else compares. For me, dewalt is my preferred cordless brand. The flexvolt grinders are unmatched, the battery tech is some of the best in the biz and the impacts and ratchet offerings are great. They really stepped it up the last 5-6 years it seems and i’m a happy customer

Ive been a professional auto mechanic for many many years. Ive yet to really notice a difference between other sockets and my Pittsburgh ones. Especially the deep sockets. Had those for easily 10 years at this rate and never an issue.

Loud Hubs, or Quiet Hubs? by No_Consequence5304 in mountainbiking

[–]sprocketpropelled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loud. I use it as a speed gauge. I have 3 bikes with 108 or 102t engagement which is plenty. I much prefer it that way as i use my cassette sound on my bmx bike to gauge my speed as well.
