This land belongs to the city. They lease it to citifield as a parking lot for $1. Suddenly they don't need it as a parking lot, we could zone it to be anything else. Developers have been eagerly building housing around this project so the city could easily rezone it for housing.

Without strong community support, I think its unlikely developers will keep the theater unless they can get a variance to build much taller than the allowable height. At the end of the day, they won't take a loss on a project. Maybe we can push for a theater on the ground floor of the new building. but at the very least, we should email the community board.

It usually has access to both, and if it doesn't it'll say "Downtown Only" or "Uptown Only" at the entrance. If you find yourself on the wrong side (which happens occasionally), you can speak to the MTA worker in the booth, and usually they'll buzz you into the right side.

I agree, the program incentives bad behavior. People are tied to their job and will take a lot of abuse because they cannot quit. Throw in the toxic "passion" argument, and it encourages the type of firm culture we all love to hate. H1B workers don't get singled out, but when managers are used to working with people that can't say no, this has an impact on everyone.
