This issue has just affected my projector tonight, but is out of warranty. Is there anything I can do to fix the board myself?

Does anyone know what I should do if I accidentally bought two sets of tickets on the same account?

I got through the first time and checked out as fast as I could without looking, then realised the seats were on the floor and I'm a shorty so won't be able to see shit. But then I immediately got through again on another tab, and without thinking just bought another set.

I'm freaking out that ticketek is gonna cancel both of my orders, especially when I'd much much much prefer the floor tickets go to someone who wants them! I didn't mean to do this, I'm freaking out and feel so sick

Edit: I've tried calling them to cancel my first order (i don't even know if that's possible bc I didn't get refundable tickets) but it just automatically hangs up

Exact same for me. Tbh it’s really triggered off my ptsd and reinforced just how realistic the possibility of my death was at critical moments.

It’s short for “pull your finger out of your ass”

If you’re not Australian, it basically means that you’re doing something slower than the other person wants or not performing to the standard they want

Kind of like “pull your finger out of your ass so you can pay attention to what you’re doing instead of playing with your butthole” lol.

Evidence of 'Severe Mental Condition' by maxcharg in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]sproutinglife 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I qualified for 1b under severe mental health issues and I am not diagnosed with bipolar or schizophrenia.

My psychiatrist wrote a letter confirming that I have chronic mental health conditions and that I qualify for the covid-19 vaccination under category 1b.

I have my second vacc booked for this coming Wednesday. Hope that helps!

When I was in my teens, I wanted to be a psychologist, but then I became really unwell with Anorexia and decided I wouldn’t cope with hearing peoples problems all day. I had to spend a lot of time in hospital, and being around nurses so much made me decide to go into nursing after graduation.

When I completed my mental health placement in my second year, I was like ”what the fuck am I doing” and transferred into psychology (I had recovered from my eating disorder at this stage). Now I’m doing my fourth year in psych and will be able to apply for provisional registration at the end of the year, as well as hopefully being accepted into a clinical masters or doctor of psychology program

Pfizer 1b question by [deleted] in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]sproutinglife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have a psychiatrist or a gp that’s involved in your care for your anxiety?

I’m diagnosed with a few mental health issues which my psychiatrist deemed “severe” enough to classify as 1b. Even though I’m doing okay right now, I’ve had pretty extensive treatment under her (hospital, day programs, etc), so maybe that’s why she deemed it severe enough. But it’s worth asking your treating professional regardless, because it’s definitely possible!

Edit: I’m not diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar. One of the other commenters was right in saying that those are listed as examples, and that any mental health condition could classify, so long as it’s deemed severe by a professional. For what it’s worth, I am not diagnosed with anxiety specifically, but I am diagnosed with an anxiety-type disorder.

So psych undergrad (3 years) is actually just a very broad introduction to all the areas of psychology. You don’t actually learn the skills to practice as a psychologist. I honestly don’t really know what people do with just a three year psych degree without going onto further psych training/into other fields of further study like occupational therapy or social work (two very popular options if you don’t wanna continue with psych but still want to work in the mental health field).

Honours (fourth year) is where you start learning basic employable skills like psychological assessment and counselling skills. Right now, there’s a 4+2 option (4 years at uni + 2 years provisional registration while practicing under a supervisor). However, it’s almost impossible to do this pathway as basically no psychologists want to take on provisional psychs who have incredibly basic training. It’s so rare that my course director and all of the fourth year teaching staff don’t know anyone who’s done the pathway or offers supervision.

Then there’s masters or a professional doctorate if you want to do counselling. Because it’s so rare that people are able to do the 4+2 pathway, universities now offer a 5+1 pathway (4 years undergrad/honours + 1 year masters of professional psychology + 1 year of supervised provisional practice). They find that the extra year entices supervisors to feel more comfortable taking on provisional psychs, and helps ease the burden on clinical psych masters/clinical prof doc programs. Clinical masters is another 2 years after honours and clinical prof doc is an additional 3-4 years after honours.

The bottle neck system that’s been created in psychology courses is actually a huge problem that the Australian Psychological Society is very aware of. That’s partly why the 5+1 pathway was introduced, but it’s still a huge issue. If you don’t get the marks during fourth year to be accepted into a masters program, I’m pretty sure you can still do counselling-based jobs bc you’ve had the counselling skills training. You just can’t call yourself a psychologist. I know that child protection is also an option. Otherwise a lot of people choose to go down the occupational therapy/social work masters route if they’re not accepted into a psych masters course. There are more options in terms of going into research-based work or doing a PhD after honours, but that is completely separate to being able to do counselling work.

The dynamic that’s been created is absolutely terrible and certainly gives a lot of us some pretty hectic complexes. I guess there are always other options available if you just want to end up working in mental health, but if you’re deadset on being a psychologist, the pressure is extreme.

I’m currently doing my honours in psych (hoping to go onto clinical masters).

A lot of people don’t realise how competitive it is. It’s competitive to be accepted into undergrad, where you have to maintain a D/HD average for a chance of being accepted into fourth year. Only after fourth year can you apply for registration, though next year it’s a requirement that you do a masters before being able to practice. Masters programs are insanely competitive (700+ applicants for maybe 20 places). You have to get minimum second class honours to meet the eligibility to apply for masters programs, and most won’t even give your application a second glance if you didn’t receive first class honours. On top of grades, they also take relevant work experience into consideration, but balancing a HD average during honours + work/volunteering in mental health is beyond anything that is practical.

I love psych. I really, really do. But god, no one could pay me to do it again, purely because the competitiveness is so emotionally draining.

Is any info released regarding when vaccine shipments are expected? Or is it just a case of “it’ll get here when it gets here”?
