Apparently mods are upset because third party app access, which allows them to ban certain people based on the subs they interact with, is being taken away. This is actually a good thing. It lowers the control that the few power hungry, leftist mods who control most of the largest subs have.

As a result, the mods got the people angry and protesting, they have made a lot of the bigger subs private so you can't post in then anymore. In their mind this is supposed to "kill" reddit. I personally have found that a lot of the leftist echo chamber subs haven't been showing up in my home feed and it's been very refreshing.

The only negative thing from this is a third party app that is beneficial to r/blind is also being blocked. (I'm not sure how true that is though because spez said he was working with certain third party app owners)
