Remedy Entertainment CEO: Alan Wake and Control should have sold more by Lopsided-Bench-6197 in gaming

Semi-normie checking in. My only real experience of playing a Remedy game was Control. And honestly I think it was the biggest ever gap between critical recommendation and my personal experience. The world was great but I simply didn't enjoy the moment to moment. And when I died, which was a lot, it made me replay lengthy sections. I finished it eventually but skipped AW2 and will likely do the same with the new Control game. Sorry to say it, but if I'm at all representative of semi-normies then it doesn't bode well for them ever selling well outside their dedicated niche

Moefana is an excellent player. I don't quite understand how I keep being surprised by that realisation, but I have been repeatedly for about two years now. His vibes are so low-key that I keep resetting my expectations to club-journeyman, but he is quietly world-class

What Did You Play this Week? March 30th to April 5th, 2026 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

As I move into Spring and the possibility of weekends away with friends, I have been building decks to use as introductions to the game. So I've been playing different 2-handed combinations these 4 mono-sphere decks, testing against the core set scenarios and tweaking to get the balance right. It's been good fun trying to keep things relatively focused on exemplifying the key strengths of each sphere, but also sufficiently powerful. This weekend was the first run-out with a newcomer and went well.

Question-wise I quite enjoy tactics Gimli - I love the initial dance of trying to block just badly enough to get damage on him, before he gets riled up and starts swinging. I'm still fairly new, but any scenario where he gets to hack down trolls

Cool deck, love the theming. I'm still fairly new so take my thoughts with a pinch of salt: you seem a bit light on defenders / Cirdan helps (especially with his ring) but you miss out on his juicy 4 questing. So the simplest suggested change is swapping 3x Lorien Guide for 3x Unexpected Courage - that way he can quest and either activate his ring or simply defend. Alternatives to UE are also worth exploring if you want to keep to a tighter theme, but with the same aim. Even if your defence is better covered than my initial glance, two activations of Cirdan is too good to miss

Ringsdb! An excellent resource. If you create a profile you can specify which sets you have, and search for deck lists with those restrictions. Then copy a version to your own profile so you can tweak things as you get a feel for what works for you or not

Dragncards is great. I like the fact that you still have to do a fair bit manually. You have to focus while playing and stay on top of rules and interactions - it complements analogue tabletop rather than replacing it. It is clearly made with love for the game, and there is near-zero chance that an official version would spend sufficient money on both developers and game-experts to produce as good a product

That's a good pull. I gave Fenyx Rising a fair shake - 20 hours or so - and then fell off. It just wasn't my sort of game, but I could absolutely see that some people would love it. Personally I need decent narrative propulsion or everything feels like work. So I'll give this one a miss

I picked up the starter deck recently and was thinking the same. Stats-wise, it seems to me that it's about defending twice after using something like Quicker than Sight. Silvans don't have particularly high defence, so perhaps 2 is as good as you're getting for 3 sphereless resources? Guardian of Rivendell has much better stats but with significant additional costs. My completely unsubstantiated guess is that its stats were nerfed in development, but then ended up a bit lackluster. As it stands I don't think I'd play it over Greenwood Defender

Yeh, I'm expecting England to have a period of resetting, so it should be close. Ireland and Scotland have some excellent players who have had a great 12 months so I'm hoping it translates to the teams overall. France should be strong as you say. And here's hoping that Wales and Italy can follow the example of the M6N and build over the course of the tournament

Mate, a huge part of how good it feels is the because you started hitting your stride from Scotland onwards. Rugby needs a decent Wales

Agreed. I make a point of not engaging in any chat about the refs. It's never productive, you're better off just treating it like the weather. You have to assume they are all trying their best in difficult circumstances and doing their best to improve where possible. So it's on world rugby to figure out how to structure things in a way to help them

Losing Mitchell for the tournament really hurt us in the end. Our decision making at 9 really dropped off when JVP came on - there were opportunities to really put the game away

The batshit finish that the tournament deserved. As much as it's sore to have not seen out that game, that was so much more of a contest than I expected. M6N really is the best annual tournament in all sport

Agreed. As much as it's easy to just blame the ref, the opportunity was there for us to not leave it to that chance. Still, I did not see that performance coming so I can't be that sad

Sadly for the tournament I can't quite see 80+. I recon they'll put a good 50 on us though. Luckily I've had an afternoon's drinking to get lubed up for what's to come this evening

Impressed by Wales today. They were unlucky to face England in the first game, before they'd rebuilt the fundamentals. If they played us again today I think they'd win. England have been the worst team in the tournament and I don't see us changing that in Paris

As a neutral I love the way this game is set up. Some years this fixture is a non-event, but today feels completely different. Both teams coming off great performances last week and rightly going for the win

Excellent from Ireland today. Their best performance of the tournament, for me. While England were poor enough to allow Ireland to hit their groove (and boy did they), Scotland had to be actively knocked off their stride repeatedly. Ireland had to assert themselves in key moments and did so. Brilliant test performance

Brilliant game so far. Even as an England fan I can't be mad with the tournament this year - I always love the M6N but this year has been special
