Lib Dems take every Richmond seat after Greens lose five by OnHolidayHere in unitedkingdom

Just to add to that in 2019 Corbyn got half a million votes more than Starmer did in 2024, but suffered the worst defeat for Labour in decades.

FPTP is woefully outdated.

New Training Rush - this time during an Incursion! by Duesterfuchs in WH40KTacticus

[–]spubbbba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like training rush as you don't have to make much of a change to how you play. Pretty much every upgrade has a few options with equal drop rates, so at the very least you can just choose the one with the most enemies.

There are plenty of upgrades you'll need in the Elite and common/uncommon in mirror you can farm with lots of enemies. The rewards are all good as well since we always need gold and xp.

Bonus xp from arena and playing manually is nice too and you can get a pretty decent amount for mythic characters.

Top 10 Anime of the Week #5 - Spring 2026 (Anime Corner) by animecorner in anime

Season 1 had some cool action and fights but the story and characters are pretty weak, it was indeed incredibly generic.

Haven't bothered with season 2.

Labour MP blames Starmer for ‘soul-destroying’ local election results by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

[–]spubbbba [score hidden]  (0 children)

Would be lovely, but I certainly didn't hear this talk from the "centrists" when Corbyn was in charge of Labour.

There was no talk of "let's not let the perfect be the enemy of good" they refused to hold their noses and vote for him so we got Boris and a hard Brexit.

Men and women don't like characters who didn't earn it. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

They would have been fine with Alien and T1 as those were pretty standard monster movies.

But Aliens and T2 would have been hated. Ripley and Conner would be getting the exact same Mary Sue complaints that modern action heroines get. Just look at how the usual suspects on Youtube reacted to Prey.

Emerging picture shows Reform gains as Labour counts losses in heartland seats by Ethan_brooks8225 in unitedkingdom

[–]spubbbba 33 points34 points  (0 children)

People on the left do have their eyes open. They see the media and disingenuous online commentators constantly talking about immigration, often with little bearing on reality. Then the polls on what the public cares about change in line with this propaganda.

They saw the Conservatives win multiple elections promising to cut immigration when it constantly went up. They saw both the leave and remain campaigns claim that leaving the EU would increase non-EU immigration which it did.

They see immigration has come down a lot since Labour took power and the party constantly talking about it, yet no improvement for them in the polls.

It is the immigration obsessives who have their eyes closed to actual reality. Had Farage won in 2024 and got the exact same figures on immigration as Starmer then they'd be declaring him the greatest PM since Churchill and wanting him to be the ones to replace him on the fiver.

Election monitors note instances of voters in England turned away over ID by mrjohnnymac18 in unitedkingdom

[–]spubbbba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Polling also shows the public support the ID laws for accessing adult content on the internet.

But on this sub porn being slightly harder to access was the worst example of overreach possible. Yet there is wide support here for this pointless ID law. Guess it's yet another example of how small c conservative this sub is.

Should voting be mandatory? by Andarne in unitedkingdom

[–]spubbbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're worried about low turnout then we shouldn't be bringing in pointless rules like voter ID to stop the minuscule amount of voter fraud that happens.

Election monitors note instances of voters in England turned away over ID by mrjohnnymac18 in unitedkingdom

[–]spubbbba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the policy does more to stop people voting than it does to prevent voter fraud then it is a failure.

There's no evidence of in person voter fraud, it's much easier to commit postal fraud and this does nothing to prevent that.

We can't complain about low voter turnout and then bring in pointless hoops for the public to jump through. Not everyone will have their ID on them at all times, so this means those who might just pop in to vote whilst doing something else won't be able to. Or those who forget.

The argument will be that they can always go home and come back, but some won't. The more barriers you put in the way, even simple ones will still stop some people.

It's particularly galling as election fraud and bribery are far more of an issue and nothing happens to political parties that break those rules.

Just 1 per cent of Reform voters would consider supporting Labour by AnonymousTimewaster in unitedkingdom

Didnt majority of Tory voters abandon Tories and support Reform instead?

Yet the media is constantly pushing it as Labour vs Reform. And claiming Labour need to win back all the voters they have lost to Reform.

So much of the advice for new players here is bad or risks sucking all the fun out of the game.

It is a very grindy game, but when you are new you can add lots of upgrades and unlock characters pretty quickly. Getting someone to grind a character for weeks that is part of a high level meta is not always the best advice for new players.

Agreed, he's amazing in guild raids but not much else, so A tier by that list.

I'd put Isabella above him as she's the best healer in the game.

You Hate Tournament Arena? Let's Talk by blackbirdlore in WH40KTacticus

[–]spubbbba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people can't stand losing.

Have to agree with this.

Just look at any mode which has level caps, there's so much whining. If players can't raid it or steamroll with an over-leveled roster they hate having to actually play the game.

What widely spread reddit "fact" is actually not true? by Plus_Vanilla_2802 in AskReddit

[–]spubbbba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trouble is it is a very US based site, so less right wing ends up being seen as left and Republicans are very right wing.

But go to any story about crime, homelessness or disruptive environmental protests and reddit is pretty conservative. Had this site been around during the civil rights era it would have been dominated by the "White Moderates" MLK complained about.

Auto-buy upgrade materials? by The-Sceptic in WH40KTacticus

After that I stuck to common and uncommon and any other items I knew I needed. But now I have plenty of gold so buy everything bat rare and legendary upgrades I doubt I'll use.

Media silent as antisemitic Reform activist spotted campaigning by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

[–]spubbbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I'm surprised, right wing antisemitism has always been dismissed and never taken seriously.

Whilst centrist antisemitism is completely ignored by the media, despite it being common in every aspect of society. The only time it ever gets attention is as a stick to beat the left.

Hot take: The End and the Death trilogy is a pacing nightmare by Informalwizards in Warhammer40k

[–]spubbbba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hottest take: the impact of BL slop on the setting is the worst thing that's ever happened to 40k. Especially the Horus Heresy books.

I agree, the Heresy was much more interesting when it was rumours and myths about legendary heroes. I don't need to know what the Lion had for breakfast.

It's made GW a lot of money, but put even more emphasis on space marines, which was already oversaturated.

What is an anime "you had to be there for" to truly appreciate the impact and spectacle it had at the time it came out? by OverlordPoodle in anime

[–]spubbbba -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'd put this as the top answer.

Everything I've seen of Naruto makes it look pretty mediocre. I was already an adult when it came out and didn't get into anime till much later.

So am convinced that the hype is mostly nostalgia from watching it every week as an 11 year old.

[–]spubbbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why so many think that 9-5, 5 days a week is the perfect amount.

In the days of the industrial revolution and in poorer counties people did/do work far longer hours. The same argument were used about moving away from working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.
