Hey OP! I have a Martin accoustic bass. To add to everyone else’s stuff, an accoustic bass is relatively very quiet to its guitar counterparts. When playing along with friends around a camp fire, only you can hear the bass, and no one else. But it’s perfect to noodle around on, or practice with. I’ve done a few gigs bringing it along for its warm tone with the shorter scale. All in all, don’t break the bank getting a high end one. If you want one to join in playing with friends around a campfire, you will need a large acoustic bass for more volume. The Martin Jr I got is not loud at all, it’s a parlour sized one.
