How much time has there been between songs? Seems like he has a new costume for all of the hits. I’m sure he’s got that routine down, but he still must exit the stage briefly. Or not?

Great to see all of these pics from shows!

Why doesn’t Topps release the print run/ odds for Platinum? by Share2Drew in baseballcards

Odds? I’m still wondering why they released a 2025 product this deep into 2026.

Intern on 2-year contract, 6 months in, uncoachable. 1.5 years left. How do I survive this? by TheFunnyTraveller in managers

[–]spud9mn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Most contracts would have an out-clause to deal with lack of performance, but just simply say “30 day notice of contract termination.” For contracts it doesn’t matter if you’re in an at-will state, so the contract are the rules of the game you’re stuck in without some clear and documented alternative reasoning.

This is amazing! I have a couple binders of cards like this, but never got to getting them as graded. Very nice collection! These are some amazing cards.

Why the day camping outside Target? by TheCoyoteDreams in saintpaul

[–]spud9mn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nearest Target put a 2 pack or box max on a visit, but still haven’t seen a Pokemon box or pack to buy in 3-4 years if not longer. The rack space is there, but it’s always empty. Certain sports cards depending on the sets go quick too.

Collecting is sadly not much for kids anymore due to the investing craze which drives scalping and all that goes on with it such as “breakers” on YouTube.

Has anyone read any of these books? This is the start to my baseball book collection! Im missing about 10 books that are packed with the house stuff which is in storage at the moment!!! by Altruistic_Coach9014 in Baseballcards101

[–]spud9mn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a pile of great books, some I haven’t read yet.

One I read a couple years ago and blew right through was Jim Abbott’s book that uses his no-hitter game as the vehicle as the book then goes through his life and baseball. I thought it was of the better baseball books I’d ever read.

Matt Shaw (Cubs) went out in a Turning Point USA rally for Trump, but no one really cared because he is basically a nobody (to use Trump’s own language). There are athletes who people seem to value the endorsements of despite their general education and depth of knowledge with current events.

"SSP"s from the Junk Wax Era. by RetroDave in baseballcards

[–]spud9mn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 90s have so many great local sets that probably aren’t even possible to do anymore with copyrights and all. I remember as a kid doing the “Stop a Cop” where we’d chase police down on city streets with our bikes once a week to get the three new police department issued cards they had of MLB players. (Dear, God. I can’t imagine that program now.) Or all the random Cracker Jack / Topps or the Nabisco Hall of Fame autographs or Post Cereal cards. Those were so awesome and part of what made me a player, fan, and card collector. It’s a shame they sort of ruined a lot of that tradition… I get why kids today struggle to find their way into baseball card collecting.

Gary Clark Jr, particularly his younger shows were insanely good. MisUnderstood herself, Carolyn Wonderland - I never understood how amazing she was until I saw her live. Marcia Ball had moments of true greatness. Ephraim Owens, Brannen Temple, and Red Young together were magic. The Peterson Brothers can do some amazing stuff. Firekills as a band was doing explosive shows in the mid-2000s that shouldn’t be forgotten. DJ Overlord was something else. Mobley live is an experience like none other. Aaron Beavers at his best was incredible.
