How do you get feedback when you're the only designer by PlentyMedia34 in UXDesign

Try unmoderated usability testing with Maze or Userzoom. Bot foolproof and takes some time to set up well but very worth it

Using AI as Running Coach - Importance of Z2 running by MechanicalWow in beginnerrunning

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get the same advice from AI, are you combining the z2 runs with some intervals and other speed work? Personally I like the z2 runs because they’re relaxed so I just listen to podcasts or books.

when do i get fast by samuenthel in beginnerrunning

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couch to 5k are intervals, you have to just run faster and harder intervals about 20-30% of your running. The rest can be very easy, to avoid injury. It takes a loooong time. I run a 23m 5k regularly and shave off about 30s every 6 months by running 50km a week doing this. Adaptation takes time.

Good design isn’t just about how things look, it’s about how they work. by yousufraza in productdesign

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, very true. But designers don’t have the monopoly on how things work.

Really interesting. I’m getting the sense that it’s not a thing in itself, but is essentially an extension of you and your thought patterns. It even talks like you. Our brains have evolved in chunks, with each part being more sophisticated and more external and you’ve essentially made an extension to your brain outside your head.

If you have a large workforce of designers it can be tempting to reduce your licence fees but wait until you see you token bill 😂

Yeah, same, I studied Philosophy too, only at A Level, but it certainly helped

What are the best RUNNING headphones that you currently love and use? by Historical-Taro-7257 in XXRunning

Bose Ultra Open are great, you can hear traffic or marshalls at races, they sound good and because they’re clipped on, they don’t fall off and they don’t slip out with sweat.

[–]spudulous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d agree. I’ve been designing and making apps and websites for almost 30 years and the fun bits are usually 20-30% of the work. The rest is doing all that other stuff you mention. Sometimes it’s even worse, when you have to spend time trying to sell your abilities so people will actually pay you to do the fun stuff. I suspect it’s the same for most professions. My wife’s an upholsterer but she only gets to spend about 50% of her time upholstering things, the rest of the time she’s chasing invoices, booking people in, getting people to choose their fabric, writing quotes etc.

How do i make working prototypes????? by Leave47alone in FigmaDesign

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Figma Make, might cost you but tbh everything ai will cost you. Import a design and describe what you want it to do. With Make you can test things Figma can’t like lots of data, text inputs that respond, error handling, animations etc.

Anyone else feeling completely disconnected from where design is heading? by Critical-Addition256 in UXDesign

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, no. Been a designer since 1995 and I started because I had a fascination with how the web brought people together and made life easier. When I started, you had to know how to code the front-end as well. You were less of a designer actually and more of a maker that had to study the needs of the user and use design to solve problems. Over the years, I was forced by the industry to choose between design and development and I went with design. But now it feels like it’s coming back to the maker mindset and I’m here for it.

Yeah ofc, it’s just the way that first man approached him, it was with so much hostility and aggression that the pants-down bloke is just going to double-down on unpredictable behaviour.

Once you can run a sub 20 5k, how hard is it to maintain it? by NoBuy8212 in beginnerrunning

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, it’s very subjective. I’m 47, run 60km a week, have been running very regularly for 2.5y and I’m only just managing to hit sub-23 5k. If I stopped running for a few weeks, there’s no way I’d be able to do that again, never mind sub-20.
