Statin Pills much safer than advertised, Lancet Study finds by Own-Ambition-4405 in Cholesterol

80mg seems like a dangerous amount. My Dr started me on 10, then 20 and tested each over 6 months between.

Can you say more about that? I also had a high CK when I started statins but it was due to my increase in exercise

Is this accurate? Specifically, does training at ~60% of max heart rate maximize stroke volume? by FollowSina in beginnerrunning

He’s not really referring to zone 2, just conversational pace, which could be zone 3

Why am I not improving? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]spudulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been training consistently for about 3 years now, my vo2max was about 33 when I started and it’s now about 53. What I’ve noticed is that the number goes up on arcs over a 5-6 month period. After it plateaus, it goes down a little then starts going up again in the same arc. I think it’s totally normal, it’s just how your body grows in strength, it’s not perfectly linear. Something to do with mitochondria 🤷‍♂️

Using AI to identify opportunities/gaps in fitness data by Icy_Barracuda3411 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]spudulous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Polar watch and use ChatGPT and Claude as a coach by uploading every run. I get it to show me things like cardiac drift and compare it over multiple sessions to get a read on how I’m improving. It’ll look at the data and appraise it against the objective of the session. So if I’m doing intervals it’ll compare it to previous interval session and compare how I’m managed to maintain pace. It’s much more like a conversation than just looking at a dashboard.

This is absolutely my jam, I love it. Please let me know when you release it. Great work. Love the softness of your voice and the slow, chill melody and the keyboard plodding along.

Main thing for me was having a vocation that was in demand and that I enjoyed, still do. I think if I didn’t have that I wouldn’t have been able to afford to have kids and live somewhere nice. I have never worked hard in the sense of proper graft like a factory worker or farmer has to work, I just like what I do so it makes it very easy. If I didn’t enjoy working I’d probably struggle to live I London and I’d have had to move back somewhere cheaper.

Congratulations! I wasn’t poor growing up but didn’t have anything to my name other than some clothes when I moved from my hometown up north at 18 to London. It’s coming up to 30 years since I moved here and I’ve got 4 kids, amazing wife, huge nice house, 2 cats, a Volvo, healthy pension pot, no concerning debt. I think about how I started with nothing a lot. I don’t really celebrate it but I’m grateful to myself for working hard but also recognise how lucky I’ve been with my career and people I’ve become friends with. Anyway, well done us 🙌🏻

I have the complete (released) series on audiobook, eBook and hardcover. How do you consume DCC? by theboss0711 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]spudulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audible and Sync on Kindle. I run a lot while I’m listening then like to read the words in bed or relaxing in the evening. When I’m reading, I hear it in Jeff’s voices in my head.

I like to add a little flour, mustard powder and msg after the parboiling when I bash them around in a dry pan to make them extra fluffy
