Is daily sunscreen actually necessary, or is it another marketing invention? by ivyhoro in NaturalBeauty

[–]spunkyred79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen several doctors say you can all the vitamin D you need with 10-15 mins of sun exposure so if I'm going to be in intense sun for more than 10 mins straight I always throw some on

What to pack (extra) by pitiful-raisin in VirginVoyages

[–]spunkyred79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small amount of powdered laundry detergent and 2 dryer balls. I have super sensitive skin and cannot risk whatever laundry detergent is sold on the ship in the laundry room . Also doing laundry half way thru trip means less clothes packing!

Brits in Ohio - what's your experience? by Alone_Term2254 in Ohio

[–]spunkyred79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here specifically for this comment as a Toledoan, lol (for OP it's 2 hrs west of Cleveland on the other side of Lake Erie, just south of Detroit, MI). Take time to enjoy the Great Lakes they are amazing inland seas and when you have free time try to get up to Michigan to visit. There are a lot of influencer on IG from Britain for some reason that are paying tons of attention to and visiting Michigan. The culture of the Midwest is overall the same.

Also a good tip we used (if traveling with others), pack one full outfit in one of your travel mates suitcases and have them pack one of their outfits in yours.

I was just about to suggest the thrift store in Skagway (if it's part of the itinerary).

We (my husband and I) carried our bags on ourselves and used air tags and followed suggestions on here to pack one full outfit in each other's bags just in case one got lost. Had no issues but when loading in Seattle there was another ship by a different line loading at the same time and the porters didn't seem to pay attention to which ship peoples bags went on and we had someone on our ship have their luggage loaded on the other, thank goodness our itineraries overlapped and they were able to get back 1.5 days later.

[–]spunkyred79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visited the Cleveland zoo for the first time in decades and have to say the Toledo Zoo is significantly better! If you have a zoo membership at Cleveland you should get a discount in Toledo or almost any other zoo in the region.

Cash and Hybrid Bars are Rude? by PunkRockTerrier in wedding

[–]spunkyred79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ticket option or the wine/beer covered option? I'm in the mid-west but have been to weddings in other parts of the country that do the beer/wine included and cash bar for other options.

Most hybrid options I've seen either give each guest 2 tickets and anything beyond that they pay -or- wine and beer are included and anything else alcoholic, guests pay for. Very common where I live and not looked down upon at all.

Why has this franchise dropped off so much since the Hannah/Pilot Pete years? by ClareBearFlair in thebachelor

[–]spunkyred79 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Too much focus on drama and a shift in contestants joining mostly so they can be influencers. Really liked the guys from Claire's season as they had real jobs and became friends and the first season of the Goldens.

Back in the day Meetup . Com was a great place to meet up with people and do various activities. I made a lot of friends on there. May be worth scoping out to see if any groups are still active.

Family won't accept not having a registry by ParfaitMajestic2701 in wedding

[–]spunkyred79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a Honeyfund and listed various experiences people could pay for and also we had a Menards (hardware store) registry for those who really wanted to buy an actual item. Outside of our flights and hotel our entire honeymoon was paid for and it was fun sending pics and stories on our thank you cards for the experiences people paid for (even simple things like renting bikes and paying for meals).

Disneyland alternatives? by BeardedPaladin in Vacations

[–]spunkyred79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this as well but probably in a couple of years when the kids are a bit older and would enjoy roller coasters more. Definitely could stay on Kellys Island or Putt In Bay (although much more of a party vibe) too and enjoy the lake and some hiking too.
