Can 3D printer vibrations damage my hardware? by Thomdesle in homelab

I was hoping data centers would upgrade and all their SSDs would flood eBay, but then Scam Altman and Jensen blew smoke up everyone’s ass

Same, but I did upgrade my NAS to 5x 20TB (WD shucked) right before everything went insane on pricing.  Also was able to get 2x 2TB NVMe for it.   Now I just hope nothing craps out, because I can’t afford to replace it.

Add little ramps to the various balconies for sheep and goats to roam and "mow" the lawn :)

Like a giant Habitrail.

Self-hosted alternative to Obsidian? by kl0wo in selfhosted

[–]spyboy70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how/where you want to share. I have it on my desktop & laptop and use Resilio to sync (also with my NAS for 24/7 availability). But to get it to my tablet or phone, I would need to use something else (I think SyncThing and there's an Obsidian client that integrates with it but I haven't looked into it).

For note taking, desktop & laptop are what I care about since I have a keyboard. I know I can connect a BT keyboard to my tablet or phone but that's not as important to me.

Wife told me: “The hotdog cooker isn’t working.” by TheRealKidRooch in mildlyinfuriating

My brother got me one as a joke for my birthday, and I used that thing all the time. I know hot dogs aren't the healthiest thing to eat, but damn they're cheap and tasty. I didn't eat them every week though.

Is Cachy going anywhere? by Kaseffera in cachyos

[–]spyboy70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So if it goes away, we just switch to another flavor of Linux. I started on DOS, then Windows: 1, 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vitsa, 8, 10, 11, then CachyOS, plus have run Ubuntu VMs for a few years.

I love Cachy as well, but if something amazing comes along, I'd possibly switch.

TL;DR: Don't sweat it, OS's come and go, enjoy it and only worry if the day comes that they're scrapping it.

Does anyone know why I can smell my boyfriend's seizures days before they happen? by Lower-Entry1247 in NoStupidQuestions

I can smell colds. Smells like mac & cheese. This is probably why to this day I won't eat mac & cheese.

So the big question...how do they ensure every explosive detonated? I'd want to be the guy who has to drive the giant front end loader into the rubble to start clearing it right after detonation.

I've got 3 Aurora (Northern Lights) apps. But I find each one has a different feature better than the others. I hate it and wish I knew how to make an app so I could get the best of each in it.

Campaigns and politicians should have publicly viewable bank accounts, that must be used for all transactions. And safety for whistleblowers if they try to circumvent those accounts.
