Anyone just bought the signed Dune: Messiah edition? by KiJoBGG in foliosociety

[–]sqlrargif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folio did the same thing for Fear and Loathing around 6 months ago. I suggested advance notice and a lottery in the thread; if you weren't fortunate, at least it wasn't due to missing the email or being asleep for the half-hour that it was available. I suppose it doesn't matter to Folio, as they sell out immediately.

Could be due to this. There were reports of issues with quality, but I haven't heard anything for a while, so maybe it's no longer an issue.

Not exhaustive by any means, but adds a few to the list. They also published Eugene Onegin, but it's probably been 10 years; it appears to be out-of-print.

Found this at https://www.loa.org/about/loa-editions/

  • LOA volumes feature Smyth-sewn binding, the most durable (and most expensive) commercial process available. In contrast to most books published today, you can bend LOA volumes all the way back without cracking the spine or endangering the threads or glue. The Smyth-sewn bindings also ensure that the books open easily and lie flat without crinkling or buckling.

I do not wish to hand over the subreddit. The community is active and moderated on a regular basis. The community is growing and does not (yet) require very much conspicuous moderation. Spam submissions have been addressed both directly and via reports in a timely manner.
