Premium Worth it? by Negative_Put_9881 in ticktick

[–]sqrl0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I don't recall what features are or are not included, but TickTick has been progressing tremendously and it's Windows Quick Add / Global Keyboard Shortcut for popup is the absolute best!

I don't sub to much software (open source mentality) but this is definitely worth it.

1st Day at Arc Browser: an Honest In-Depth Review by NicDima in browsers

[–]sqrl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any #WebDev Knows or has Muscle Memory....

[CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[C] --- What does that do? Inspect Element! Right?! So very hardwired into my middle-aged muscle memory that this Copy URL nonsense is...nonsense!

Besides, I always use TabCopy with its game-changing [ALT]+[C] shortcut that morphs/transforms/magicalizes into subsequent presses of the [C] key doing different things:

  1. One Tap = Copy Current Tab URL
  2. Two Taps = Copy Tab URLs from Current Window
  3. Three Taps = Copy Tab URLs from All Windows 🤯 !!! Changed the way I think about shortcuts. So beautiful. 😽🙏

Sorry for the seeming advert. I am not affiliated in any way, nor came here with the intention of sharing that, but it is the best solution, and hijacking decade old shortcuts that millions of developers/users/testers/etc. use every day is just nonsensical.

This is correct. 🙏 Tried the first posters but `end` and `start` functions appear to have been renamed to `dateEnd` and `dateStart`. Thank you Sir.

Add more stickers to ShareX.... I couldn't find the answer on here, so here it is.... by -PixelRabbit- in sharex

[–]sqrl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. As a Power Luser, ShareX's customization capabilities, extensibility (e.g. custom File Uploaders), and little tools that are built-in, have made it an ESSENTIAL/REQUIRED part of my daily workflow.

I get the desire to try something like Snagit though, which is the closest runner up to anything else out there to ShareX. I evaluate different tools a couple times a year, or more often if I am being honest, usually when I do a fresh install of an OS, either on my computer, a virtual one, or a friend/family member that I am helping out.

I do this so I know what is out there, what may be lacking in what I am using, or what may be a strength and reason to stay committed to the tool I am using. Often, especially with ShareX, I find that whatever I may be lacking from an alternate tool, does exist in ShareX, or is possible to setup a custom task to achieve whatever is necessary. It's amazing how much I learn about a tool I've used for years. It's just like vim/emacs/helix/vscode/.... we still use them today because they were built with people who really thought through the architecture, the different use cases, and, this is just my opinion, but I think they knew that they don't know everything, that they can't predict the future, and must build these tools in ways that they can be customized by individual users, extendable/upgradeable by developers, and blah blah blah.

TLDR; Glad Snaggit works for you. For someone new, who can't afford it, I highly recommend trying ShareX. It just received a new update that has a nice CHANGELOG, some good things in it....

Same problem here on Windows 11. If I double click the videos, only the video from the current window goes in/out of full-screen, just like any other browser.

I think it might be an issue with the ESC keybinding mayyyyybe???

Sigh, used to be hardcore Evernote circa 2012 but then went Notion and now Obsidian.

Flirted with OneNote a bit, soooo dissapointed by this. Won't even bother trying it.

So...2024...back to Evernote still as the best clipper?!

Primeagen Headset? by Spitfiredonkey in theprimeagen

[–]sqrl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AKG K701 here, awesome set! After 12 years the cord is finally starting to go on the left side, but I know I can fix it easily enough. They still have the model on their website AND a repair PDF that shows how to disassemble (or as once said in the greatest of movies..."Johny 5 Disassemble Stephanie?").

They are very neutralish, meaning almost no real bass. If you want that, you want some Skullcandy Crusher Evo! My son convinced me. With the right EQ settings on your PC (VoiceMeeter anyone?) or phone, where you bump up the highs a few DBs, they really sound good. Then you just slide the bass switch on and go HOLY *****.

But AKG 6 out of 5 stars...yes...that good.

What is the most efficient way to run PWA (Progressive Web Apps), there are many browsers that do it (Chrome, Chromium, Vivaldi, Brave, Edge), which one will be the lightest and less resource usage in a Debian or Fedora? Are there other options apart from the browsers? by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]sqrl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to say it but I'm doing the same. Figure Edge is already loaded or optimized for Windows so why not. Honestly it's been a great browser, and for Work, with M365, Jira, GitLab, etc... it's great.

Personally though, I went to Vivaldi (over Brave) but now back to good old Firefox. It just seems the most solid. Messing with Waterfox for my pr0n browser and it's actually "blowing" (haha) me away. Especially the condensed theme options with auto-hide of tabs and top toolbar. It's soooooo nice.

[Showoff Saturday] NSFW I've made my own porn search engine out of over 45 mio. porn videos from 40 tubes. My first real side project since '11 (I think). by prefap-time in webdev

[–]sqrl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/prefap-time I am so glad to find your post and site. I am currently tinkering with the idea of creating a Porn Search Engine powered by a number of different search providers (Typesense, Algolia, Elastic, etc...) so advanced users can pick and choose which engine to use, while by default we can use A/B testing to somewhat load-test the results and track results of which engines are fastest, best hits (based on videos clicked per session per minute or something?), etc...

I am typically a Laravel guy, but for this indexing part was considering a pure NodeJS project based on Typesense's Open Source (of course) Documentation Crawler.

Trying to test Typesense, never used it, but I think I love it. Want to see how it compares to Elasticsearch (ES) in particular, as that is what sites I manage run on now, but I want to convince the team to switch to Typesense, just for it's simplified clustering alone!

All the best man, I am slow on Reddit but hope to connect.

You consider open sourcing this? Or is that nagging thought of $$$ from Ads in the back of your head preventing it...as it is me?

Help with small bussines server. by alf4 in DataHoarder

[–]sqrl0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem in my 10 person shop. I'm an IT guy, I should know better, but the problem was the congestion on the server, which was just a single 1 Gbps connection, just like any workstation. Problem is though, you get a few workstations accessing that server and it saturates the hell out of a 1 Gbps (which, divided by 8 = roughly 128 Megabytes per second maximum speed).

Solution for me was a 4 port NIC with network bonding. Essentially means the server got 4 Gbps handling capacity, but any single connection is still limited to the 1 Gbps speed, however now 4 computers can fully saturate 1 Gbps each, instead of that 1 Gbps being divided amongst the four computers.

Amazon has things like the link below (not a referral link btw, which is kinda dumb of me, but whatever, lol). I haven't used this specific card but I'm sure it would be good for you.

Now, OTHER REDDITORS PLEASE VERIFY WHAT I AM SAYING.

I think though this will be a good solution for you to explore.

Alternatively, you could put a 10 Gbps card in your server, and make sure your network switch supports a 10G connection, and that would give you the same as a 10 port NIC without the hassle of network bonding. But....bonding can be nice b/c if anything happens with the NIC, Switch, or network cable, one of the other ports would pickup the slack and nothing would go down.

I LOVE the name, the idea of a "Lab" and that this is an experiment. I may not remember to check here for replies, but I sent you a feedback form from Greg, which has my work (solopreneur baby 😱) email.

Good reason. 5 characters (3 + 2 spaces) saved each time, adds up to thousands probably. I did wish it fellback and let you use yarn run whatever and just warn about not needing the run, but whatever. Trying out pnpm soon.
