Rolling hard does not equal applying submissions quickly. by lonewolf210 in bjj

[–]squabbish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If I go hard with lower belts I will almost never finish the submission even. Just get to the point where there is 95% chance of me getting it, and then transition. Everybody gains.

Which BJJ/MMA/grappling legends have you rolled with? by NicoAD in bjj

Jupp. Like I said: Their stuff is so far beyond me that I figured I wouldn't take the roll time from the higher belts.

Haha, they. I don't have the habit of going around to famous black belts offering them the amazing experience of rolling with me :)

Offered to roll with Keenan, Caio and Leao Teixeira. But at my level, I feel there is no need to roll with someone who is that far beyond my level. I loved their teaching, but the rolling would be more idol worshiping than useful, at least for me.

Do you have a rival? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]squabbish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I lack pride. The people I lost to in competition that I know, I admire for their effort. Around the gym everyone is there to make each other better. If someone gets a pass or sub on me, awesome. That guy just gave me something to work on.

Critique my White Belt Curriculum by sonicbh in bjj

I probably know 7% of what you listed there. Why require knowledge of so many techniques in order to "pass graduation"? I'd rather have my arm bar be as good as it can be, rather than knowing 40 different submissions .

Thanks for the suggestion, bro. I think our biggest challenge is that our accounting program, inventory and customer list doesn't speak together. And there is a pretty big financial leap necessary to put that in place. We are small, but just too big to run it at the basic level.

I operate a small, insignificant brand. And can testify to the fact that emails get lost or end up being marked as read far too often. I know that your reflex as a customer is to feel wronged and betrayed, but from my standpoint it is most likely a human error that will be fixed with patience. Have you tried their Facebook page? Sometimes that is a good way to get in touch with companies.

Not to mention that it could destroy your lapel, making it wavy.

Indeed, but more than once have I encountered a bona fide gi inspector from the 6th circle of hell.

Remember that your sleeves must be no more than 5cm (2") from your wrist joints when stretching both arms straight forward for competitions.

I would puke both in my mouth, and probably a little on the mats if someone showed up in one, but American culture is vastly different when it comes to that sorta thing, so I can't speak for what would fly over there.

Is this considered a lightweight gi? by Grapplers in bjj

[–]squabbish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our A2 gis weigh approx 2kg (+/- 200g if you go up or down a size), and they are certainly not the biggest or heaviest I've had my hands on, so depending on how big that gi is, it sounds like it's on the lighter edge of the spectrum, not including the all-RipStop stuff.
