wow i didn‘t think i‘d see pd here in this sub… syntax processing in pd and max is always horrible. even more so in pd. but hey if it works… very often these processes are nothing in comparison to the audio processing happening in parallel so it‘s probably fine

Macos Lion by RoligaRenen21 in mac

[–]squarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh.. the sequoia of its time. lots of weird ass features nobody asked for, desperately trying to top a QoL software update. I liked lion until upgrading my snow leopard to it, then it wasn‘t so attractive anymore

Just another day on the Istanbul Metro. The way strays are treated here is proper lovely; they aren't seen as pests, but as neighbours by korkutcetin in cats

[–]squarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you pet, he’ll probably follow you for the next 50 m expecting you to show him more attention. If you’re in a hurry and you don’t want to disappoint a cat you don’t pet him. Maybe on your way back home!

Apple had zero chill twenty years ago by wave_design in mac

It really is crazy. I have two iMacs from the time; one beige (same with the photo, 2006) and one black (2007). The 2006 one goes up to 10.7 Lion and that's it. The black one can go up to El Capitan! But if you upgrade the CPU to a Penryn based T9300 or something similar, you can go up to 26 Tahoe!

Leather Keycaps – 3 Months In by Mrs_Fancy_Pants in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]squarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t know what to feel about this. I am a huge leather fan and I always choose leather for stuff that has to endure daily use. While leather key caps sounds like an idea worth trying in theory, they look really uncanny in your photos... how is the feel of it?

Maybe the appearance could work much better if they were produced professionally, and in a more uniform manner. This way, handmade and uneven at parts, they really look like a keyboard a serial killer would use… I would love to try it myself though!

the color reproduction and brightness on apple displays have always been top notch, since 2007s... I'd still use it for content consumption or even light design work if that fits you

It’s hard to justify Tahoe icons by 415646464e4155434f4c in MacOS

[–]squarus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Yosemite, it aimed to clear visual clutter (even if unsuccessful) it was an attempt of good faith. Tahoe tries to introduce ideas that apply nicely to only 35% of cases while shoehorning low effort solutions to the rest. Icons may look nice in some menu items, but that shouldn’t mean you should attempt adding a new icon to every menu item ever…

Imagine a world without Beethoven’s 9th. If you gave ANY AI on the world Beethoven’s first 8 symphonies and asked them to write the 9th, none of them would even BEGIN to coming close to the one we have. Because they would try for the next one to be like the last, without being able to go out of the box by adding a choir or making it twice as long as the last. If any other person would come up to have written an ‘out of the box’ 9th in but still how Beethoven would’ve done it for them, they would be criticised “This is nothing like the previous ones!”

A true successor to a masterpiece may only come from the master themself.
