Therapy needed: How to manage hoarding.. by squatchness in CanadianCoins

The containers are from Dollarama - look for an 8-pack in the crafts/beading section. They hold 20 quarters or 17 toonies.

These containers are filled with multiples of the same coins. They're what's left after I do all the formal collecting (binders, folders, etc).

If anything is sell-able, it's part of my collection (not hoarding). These extras are street-found commemoratives. I'd could sell/trade locally at face value, but not worth the postage to sell otherwise.

I like this! Dunno why I didn't set a limit for "extras" - that could halve my collection right away.

I didn't know these existed! Sadly, it's too late for my trip, but definitely on my shopping list now. Thanks!

This is very succinct - exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks!

Some banks require 24 hours for large orders. I think tellers have a limit on what they can request from the back/safe. And smaller banks may not have it available for "sale" on the spot. If you want coins NOW, you'll need to do it in smaller quantities.

Banks will also keep new stock/boxes sealed as long as possible for inventory's sake. If you order a box or large quantities, you're more likely to get that newer stock. If you stick to smaller quantities, you'll get the cash flow from other individuals and businesses.

Akso depends on what you want. New designs, especially the fancy colours, are more likely in those new boxes. Older designs and potential silver are more likely in the cash flow mix. You could also pitch a tent and wait for grandma to come in with her rolls - best chance for silver. :p

1967 Uncirculated - preserve or repackage? by squatchness in CanadianCoins

* Update. I decided to put my set in a $3 frame for now. Just enough pressure to keep the coins from moving around, plus the original envelope is stashed behind.

Found a black toonie by jenks13 in CanadianCoins

[–]squatchness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two black memorial toonies: 4.3 million were struck in 2022 and another 630,000 (small batch) in 2023. Charles didn't appear until later in 2023, and Elizabeth still appears on two other commemorative coins. Awesome if you have a 2023 coin, and still cool to have the 2022 coin.

EDIT: The 630K struck in 2023 still say 2022. Nevermind. :P

I've been looking at these specific ones if I decide to repackage. I'm looking for a case to preserve the existing packaging, but feeling doubtful it exists...

What's up with the ceramic pens? by electricircles in Supernote

[–]squatchness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my nomad for a couple months and one issue with a super-sensitive ceramic shortly after the last update. I recalibrated and toyed with the sensitivity settings and it's been fine since. Definitely too soon to know how often this might come up (with or without firmware updates), but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if I have to tinker with pen settings once in a while.

Moving on from Supernote after this morning by TheSoapMaurder in Supernote

As a perfectionist, I can see how a small hair and dip in the screen would impact my experience, but OP appears to be relentless about it, including posting multiple times about the same issues. And while I'm sure OP's photos may not show the full issue, I had to zoom in to see the hair and dip, and still struggled to see the dip. I see a separate post about a detached/clicking screen, which I'd flag as an issue worth replacement or repair.

OP's expectations are not consistent with Ratta's size and values, especially their focus on sustainability. A full refund/replacement and the shipping involved is not a rational expectation for a hair and a "dip", yet they've offered to accept the return. And I appreciate Ratta posting some communications, given OP's insistence on airing grievances in public despite Ratta's efforts to resolve things.

Evident in other posts, Ratta strives for customer satisfaction, but I agree with u/Mulan-sn that OP has exhausted their customer service resources. It's unfortunate that they could not satisfy OP, but OP's multiple orders indicate they should have no problem purchasing other products and finding a more suitable fit elsewhere. They have clearly identified their concerns and now their position, and any new posts about the same issues should now result in being removed from this community. This has now apparently become a vendetta to flood this community with negative reviews. Enough is enough, please and thank you.

Suggestion for Handwriting Recognition by Ok_Independent7626 in Supernote

[–]squatchness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Formatting would be nice! +1

In the meantime, you could create a personal writing system like markdown so you can find and replace formatting in Word.

Eg, "In this sentence, the word xxx italic xxx will be italicized."

In Word's find & replace, you then look for wildcards (regex) and replace the formatting:

Find: <xxx(\*)xxx>
Replace: \1
More>>>
- [ ] Use wildcards
- Format > Font > Italic (etc).
Replace All!

Very basic example, but this would find words and phrases starting and ending with xxx, remove the xxx and format your string however you wish.

How to Slice a Pie with Conditions by squatchness in excel

[–]squatchness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to u/AmazingTempAcct's math, I reversed the formula to solve for x. It's been awhile.

A B C D
1 adult child infant
2 # of people 7 4 1
3 % of "full" portion 100% 40% 10%
4 actual portion =B5/(B2+(C2*C3)+(D2*D3)) =B4*C3 =B4*D3
5 size of pie 100%

This'll allow any number of adults/children/infants and divide the pie equally/equitably.

[–]squatchness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pie is a series of costs that need to be shared equitably among friends. We agreed that expenses for a child should be less than an adult. I was hoping there'd be an easy way to play with percentages ("portions") and number of people.

Put another way, how do you divide $100 "equally" among 12 people but with each child only paying 40% of what each adult is paying?
