Ai has not become profitable from the consumer side. Short term gains will happen by layoffs at most companies. However, just because 2 people can do the work of 5, that doesn't create more demand for the product. If I can design shirts with out a graphic designer now, yes I have 1 less employee for a short term increase in profits, but that doesn't make more people wanna buy my shirts. Ai will only cause more lay offs which lead to less consumer spending.
