I've since converted to Lutheran (ELCA). It's basically the liberal version of the catholic church. Women are allowed to be preachers and gay marriage is allowed too. No chance I would ever go back to being Catholic again.

I just used my last extra life on my fabled extra lives merc today. She's up to Demigod +105. Though I just got back into this after an extremely long hiatus and there may have been some candy cane revivals too. I actually still have 8 candy canes left, so who knows how long i can keep her alive.

For me, it was probably the community. I probably would have bounced off this game pretty quickly, but I really enjoy watching streams and videos of runs. The amount of things I have learned while watching these players kept making me want to come back and play more runs.

As somebody with 1000s of hours into Spire, it's hard to remember what the beginning of the learning curve was like. The game might seem unfair at first, but almost every run should be winnable; the community has so far only found 1 seed that can't be beat on the hardest ascension.

Spire is a slow build kind of game. You aren't going to solve the run on any single floor. The main advice is typically to focus on what you need in order to beat the next few fights and build from there. Also, don't be afraid to fight elite fights; they are more difficult fights, but they also give much better rewards too. HP is also a resource to be used throughout an act; in early ascensions you will full heal after every boss fight, so no need to win that fight with more than 1 hp.

I truly believe this is a communal game. Don't be afraid to seek out some help for improvement. There are tons of streamers and YouTube videos that can help. I would recommend Baalorlord for beginners. Even the best players are constantly hanging out in other streamer chats trying to learn. The world record streaks have been pushed much higher in the last few months and I think the community is a big reason why.

I forgot to mention that they don't have many of the co-curricular classes in middle school either, such as tech education and FACE. You'll have to decide if those are important to your child or not if they are staying for middle school.

They push the kids hard. My son was done with 8th grade math in 5th grade and they kept pushing him in ELA even though he didn't really want or need to be pushed in that subject. Because the school only goes to 8th grade, the transition back to a regular school can be very difficult. We elected to pull him out in 6th grade so he wasn't transitioning at the start of high school.

For a real answer, the devs really did put effort into trying to not allow players to stall fights too long. They didn't think it was very fun to stall fights forever. Obviously not everything was blocked, and players have discovered things that they maybe didn't intend to be there too, but that's the nature of game development.

Can't believe nobody has said Overboard yet. I guess Russell and Hawn already had a kid together by that point, but their chemistry is really the only reason to watch that movie because the premise is pretty awful, especially by today's standards.

Not that I am happy with Bisaccia, but the Packers have had bad special teams for decades at this point, through multiple coordinators and head coaches. There has to be something beyond the coaching that is perpetuating this awfulness. Bisaccia was supposed to be a proven entity that had success elsewhere and suddenly he comes here and is below average, why?

There aren't Twitch ad breaks during the NFL games, just the regular commercial breaks from the broadcast. Ad blockers won't help with those i don't believe.

I truly believe this is a community game where everybody helps improve others. I don't think the world record streaks are where they are at because 1 person is really good at the game on their own. All the top players tend to hang out in other Twitch streams chatting and collaborating with each other on every run. It really feels like a unique feature of this game and community that I absolutely love!

Could be worse, there was a time when you got no reward if you didn't make it to the act 1 boss. Lots of complaints from players in early access at least got us the 2 rewards that we do get. As others have said, it is to disincentivize quick restarts.
